This camera was a disappointment and we returned it. My biggest problem was the microcard. I had great trouble getting it in and out of the camera so I doubt a child could do this. There is no card reader and the camera, when hooked to a PC, does not function as an external drive to see the photos. You would need a separate card reader. There is no automatic lens cover. The photos it took outside were not bad and the zoom worked well. Indoor shots were grainy. I am going to get a Canon Sureshot like I have been using and think it will be much more suitable as a first camera that my 12 yo grandson will be happy with. ... show more
