The size is perfect for splitting slightly larger logs. Make sure the wood is dry or it may not split before the log hits the ground which will get it stuck on the wedge.

Got the large option that can hold some of our larger pieces we didn't quite split small enough first time around. The splitter easily splits and the open side makes it easy to work with pieces that are oddly sized as well. Clearly recommend bolting it down to something like a log for ease of use. May want the smaller size for situations where you only deal with smaller diameter pieces as it will be easier to balance towards the middle for splitting. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is just what i've been looking for. I've tried those drill bits and that didn't work so what i end up doing is hitting it with the axe then smacking the heck out of it with the sledge. Well i'll tell ya what, I just put that 1/2 or 1/4 piece on the holder and only have to hit it once or twice and it rips it in two. I'm glad i don't have to balance it on my axe anymore. We always buy that bag of wood that is cut up in quarter or halves but its too big when starting the fire pit. this breaks it up nice and smaller. the best part is it holds it there in place for you. Just be a good swing with the sledge. No damage yet. As always, i'll be sure to update this page if it starts breaking in anyway. ... show more

It works, but it's a hassle. Videos show you getting a split with one swing of the mallet, but it takes up to ten good hard swings. Due to the configuration of the upper rail, you can't split a very large piece of wood.

This kindling splitter works well. It is made out of a steel type material. The blade could be a bit sharper in my opinion but it still works well. It split the firewood into kindling really well and it made it easier than trying to do on a basic log base. This kindling splitter did not come with a cover or bag like the other one we got. This one has a half moon so the size of the wood can be as big as you want. Besides that, I recommend getting one that has the cover and sharping blades included. We are much happier with the other brand that we got than this one. However, both do the job they are intended to do. ... show more
