  • I love it this bass plays very well and was exactly ...
Color: Black
I bought this Bass one cuz I didn't have one and wanted to learn, and so I could use it with Rocksmith 2014 as something more than just guitar to play. I love it this bass plays very well and was exactly the kind of starter I was looking for a few points about it. 1.) When they say full size Bass they mean that, im about 6'4 and I almost fully extend my arm for the 1st and 2nd frets, no big deal for me, I only mention for parents who might be looking for a starter bass for a child, the neck is heavy as I would expect and the guitar itself is light bodied, (love that) 2.) The amp is a starter amp and is exactly that, its good enough to mess around with to make sure Bass is something you would want to pursue, would recommend upgrading to something like a Peavey Vypyr Vip-1 for a more serious play as they only run about 120-140$ at a guitar center. 3.) The strap is functional and seems rigid enough to hold up for awhile under normal use or practice situations, I already had several straps from all my other guitars so I find myself just holding that one for a backup. 4.) The bag is pretty nice seems solid enough but as more of a protector than anything if you were going to be carrying it around ALOT I would recommend a 20-35$ upgraded carrying bag but this will hold up just fine. 5.) Came with 6 picks 3 size ranges from .58-1.50 pretty solid picks but most people will probably end up finger picking and learning the slap/pop methods first, personally for bass I like a much wider pick so I already had my own for this but these will work great. All in all I gave this a 5 for what it is, a starter bass to make sure its something you want to do and I gotta say I would buy this again in a heartbeat without thinking twice this Bass is a lot of fun and opened up a whole new section of Rocksmith and Music in general for me, highly recommended. ... show more

  • Got To Love That Bass!
Color: Black
Update 3/2018: Knowing what I know now, I probably should have gone 4 stars, but still, it’s not like this costs a ton of money. A serious beginner will quickly outgrow this and eventually want to throw it away. The frets needed to be filed down or it would scratch the hell out of my left index finger. It’s also very hard to keep this in tune. But....I needed something to start with, and it did serve that purpose. Anyways, original review is as follows: What you have here, in my opinion, is one of the best options if some one wants to play bass, but has always been a guitar player. I will always be mostly a guitar player but for some time I have wanted a bass, and for some reason I recently became determined to get one. I did not want to spend much on something that is not my main instrument. The Pawn shops were my first instinct for buying a fairly good priced one, if a little beat up looking. My Gawd, I was wrong! My skin crawled realizing they probably got those bass guitars for next to nothing, yet are selling them, in some cases, more than if you bought them brand new. Pawn shops appears to be the worst option to buy any used musical equipment, in my area anyways. So, I saw this full size starter bass here on Amazon. I really did not need the amp, but what the heck. I was just hoping the bass was solid, stayed in tune and had that fun deep bass sound. Reviews were mostly favorable, and my expectations were not high end to begin with. The bass itself is of solid construction and stays in tune just fine. Of course, the toy amp that comes with it is much too small and cheap to do its sound any justice. I did not expect any different, but of course I tried out the Amp. Other than discard it, it might be a bit better as a beginners guitar amp. It also turns off and on with an annoying electronic snap. Plugged into my 8 track recorder and good speakers the Bass itself has a sound that was deep and rich. Easier on my fingers than I expected, too. I think better quality strings would make an even bigger difference. I purchased Ernie Ball regular slinky strings, tho I have not put them on yet. It sounds good enough that I plan to use it to record with. If you are not expecting $500.00+ quality, but want something that at least sounds and plays good, you really can't go wrong on this one. ... show more

  • Really can't go wrong for the price
Color: Black
This review comes from someone who has played guitar several years, but never any bass. I purchased this instrument to level out and expand my instrument collection and wasn't even sure if I liked playing bass guitar. First off, this comes with nearly everything you'd need to just start playing. It comes with an amp, a (bent 1/4") cord to connect the bass to the amp, 5 picks, a (cheap) strap, a (cheap) gig bag, and even some Allen (hex) keys. Notably, however, it does not come with a cloth to wipe the strings down with, or a tuner. The bass is full-sized bass, but a pretty non-descript one. If you just hear the word "bass guitar", something exactly like this instrument is probably what pops into your mind. It doesn't have a flashy brand ("Davidson") nor a gaudy pick-guard or design. It's just *a* bass. It's of good weight and rests comfortably. The action is reasonable and even the strings it comes with aren't terrible (not great either). The pickups work well enough for the price, but the tone knob seems to only cut treble and nothing else. I sometimes hear buzzing, especially if you play it more vigorously, but that's to be expected with an instrument at this price range. It seems to keep a tune well. The gig bag has a pouch for storing accessories, but the gig bag itself feels very very cheap and I half expect to break when I carry it around. The amp it comes with is small, but not too heavy and surprisingly loud. It also creates quite a lot of a lot of buzz, but this can be at least reduced by turning the tone knob on the bass a bit. Despite the price range it seems reasonably well-built and I'd expect it to be able to take a little bit of a beating. Over all then, this is a very good instrument for this price point and makes for a great gift of music to someone who has or knows absolutely nothing about bass. It could certainly be a lot worse, but the buzzing of the strings keeps me from a full-hearted five stars. Keep in mind this is a full-sized instrument, and may not be appropriate for children. ... show more
