  • Watch a few videos first
The directions are ok, but it's a lot easier to watch a couple install videos for your car model if they're available online. I was slightly confused by the directions, but thought I had the install process memorized after a couple videos similar to my installation. Just pay attention to the order of operations because I did not and it cost me some time in tight spaces. For example, rehanging the muffler too early can make reinstalling the heat shield tedious. It can also make torquing the passenger side bolts difficult. It was more difficult that I thought it would be to unhang and rehang the muffler. The actual install is straight forward even though I went out of order a bit. ... show more

  • Excellent, High Quality Hitch!
I can't say enough good things about this hitch. Everything fit perfect! I have a 2007 Honda Civic Si Coupe and the only thing I needed to trim was a small 6 x 3 inch section of the heat shield to allow the bolts to go into the frame. Be mindful that you hang the exhaust back before you torque everything down. The exhaust side is cumbersome to bolt down, due to the position of the muffler. I recommend having a second person pushing the muffler to the side while you torque the bolts down. Use a floor jack to hold the hitch in place while you position it to the frame. The hitch is beautiful and bears high quality material with a nice, thick rust proof finish. The instructions are good, but not great. They are not vehicle model specific (instructions show an Acura sedan), so the trimming portion is not accurate. You will need to use modeling and common sense for that portion of the installation. This product is a 5 star product. Not 4 or less just because the previous reviewers had a hard time installing it. That's not CURT's fault. ... show more

  • Great value!
Excellent trailer hitch. Well built and fits my 2010 Honda Civic coupe like a glove. I like that it has 5 attachment points instead of the three I saw on other hitches. Installation tips: First, the instructions stink. The words incomplete and vague come to mind, even with the pictures. They are only good for getting the torque specs, that's it. Also, it's heavy, but I did it myself laying directly under it and using my knee for holding up the opposite end while maneuvering the other end around the muffler tailpipe (this turned out to be the toughest part of the job because my muffler didn't drop as far as you tube videos show). Feeding the bolt through the frame with the spring/ wire was surprisingly easy (watch videos on-line to see how it works and it's pretty cool) (tip: keep the spring attached to the bolt until after you get the hitch over it because the bolt could get pushed back into the frame when moving the hitch into place, just be VERY careful of your eyes because the wire is hard to see and could poke you (better yet, wear safety glasses)). Other than that, it installs within an hour and looks and performs like a pro did it, and you saved yourself at least $200. Can't beat that. ... show more

  • best bang for your buck
this was fairly easy to install with a few exceptions... make sure you put the exhaust pipe back in the hanger before bolting it up or you will be taking it back down to do it all over again. overall a great deal considering the price and shipping time.

  • Nice, installation notes
Note, I haven't really used it just installed it on my 2007 honda civic ex 4dr. I'd recommend watching a quick video showing how to install these but here are some notes. If you have my model note you'll have to remove and cut out a small section of the fairly thin metal heat shield above the tail pipe. 4 screws holding it down, you'll have to remove at least a 5th screw to get to the 4th in the back. I used shears made for I think wire cutting to do it but it got the job done. You'll need a good socket set that goes fairly large, I believe size 19 and 17? or so were used the most, also a 14 or something. Don't quote me on that though. Needle nose pliers to fish out the feeding wire. An adjustable wrench or very large wrenches also. I couldn't fit my socket above my tail pipe so had to use a wrench to tighten up the big hex nut. It's a big nut so luckily I was able to grip and torque it pretty well. I did it solo but a 2nd person would make it a lot easier. I think it took me around 3 hours but I took my sweet ass time doing it and also had to finish at night using a flash light. ... show more

  • fine product
I installed this on a 2014 Honda Civic LX sedan. Everything lined up perfect with no drilling needed. Installation was not easy because of the way the civic is designed. The underbody cover and heat shield are not terribly hard to trim. I didn’t have aviation snips but a cheap pair of garden sheers worked well enough. Overall it took me about 4 hours to install because I’m an absolute beginner and had to fiddle with the fish wire a bit. I also did not put back the muffler before the hitch was bolted in which required a lot of re work. Overall if this is your first time make sure to have a standard metric socket set, some kind of snips, some good gloves, a cardboard box to lay on, a phillips screw driver, a standard screw driver, a 10mm wrench and a crescent wrench. First pop off the under body molding before you remove the heat shield. Put back the heatshield first before you put the underbody back. The order really matters. Anyways good luck! ... show more

  • VERY poor shipping
The item is... fine. A little annoying to install. It took 3 attempts to receive one that wasn't completely dinged up - bare metal exposed with the paint missing. All 3 times, Amazon just threw it loosely in a large box, causing it to completely punch through the cardboard and be exposed outside the box. This was the worst shipping I could imagine, considering it's a structural component and Amazon could possibly be held liable if it were to fail due to their lacking shipping. ... show more
