The included spatula is extremely convenient. The starter culture also activates perfectly. I’ll repeat my first review: Do not try to tear off and reattach the thermometer scale if you think you have set it ‘wrong.’ Even if it bothers you that it is glued crookedly, do not peel it off, as the marks that will later appear on this scale will irritate you even more. Otherwise, everything is just great! I would be glad if the weights were indicated in grams in the instructions, but for those who are accustomed to non-metric measurement systems, everything should be simpler ... show more

This is basically a 1 quart straight side mason jar with a spurtle, adhesive thermometer, elastic band and awkward cheesecloth cover. I should have shopped longer and smarter because I already have everything except the spurtle. I blame myself for clicking thoughtlessly. I took off a star because after buying this overpriced "kit" you still need to buy the starter culture separately. ... show more

When the product came I opened the package and the jar was broken. I would have gladly kept the other items and asked the jar be replaced!!! Very very disappointing.

Just the right size opening for feedings! The rubber spatula makes it easier to blend the next days “ feed “. I found the temperature band important due to the fact the starter needs accuracy. The cotton cap makes it easy for it to “ breathe”.

The title of this product is misleading, it contains no starter in the kit. I thought a kit entitled “Sourdough Starter Kit” would include everything you need, including starter. They should change the name of the kit so that it doesn’t include the word “starter” because you need to buy the starter separately. ... show more
