I ordered the 8 ft round rug to pull our living room together and was not at all disappointed! Our living room is open to the dining and kitchen spaces and is a fairly small footprint itself (something like 13' x 12') and this rug fits very nicely to define the living room vs dining space. It took a couple of weeks for shipping but we knew that ahead of time so not an issue at all. The rug is heavy and well made. We have 4 kids and 3 dogs in our house so it gets a lot of rough traffic and is holding up beautifully. Our 165# English Mastiff spends most of her day lounging on it and will lay sideways and slide her feet/nails across it repeatedly but we've seen no signs of wear or tear even from that yet! The feel of the rug feels comparable to that of a low, dense carpet to me. The jute braided between the cotton rows gives it a nice balance of sturdiness/stability and softness. The thickness is perfect for comfort without being a tripping hazard and the edges have also stayed nicely flat for us. We love all of the variations and bright colors. For cleaning we use our vacuum on the "high carpet" setting so the spinner doesn't catch any of the rug fibers or snag them. It is a bit tricky to scrub or really *clean* if something spills on it because of all the little grooves and ridges between the braids. We just try to avoid foods/drinks on it so we don't have to worry about that. I love that it's reversible and both sides look the same so if you need a clean-looking rug on short notice you can just flip it over. 😄 We did notice that when you first lay it out or if you try to slide it across the floor you'll get sort of bubbles in it but they aren't stretched spots or anything, just step on them and it smooths right back out! It is heavy enough on its own that it stays in place on our wood flooring and we haven't needed any sort of mat underneath it to hold it in place. The colors were darker than expected. Hand made is just that. Never the same as pictured. I do still like it. I am not afraid of color so that helps. Laid flat straight from the packaging. Made well.

I love my Ekornes chair but sometimes don’t like that it stays put so well. This 36” rug fits just right below it so that I can easily move it around like, for example, closer and further from my computer. It’s beautiful! But- it stinks like musty gross basement. It also has dirt marks on some of the rag pieces, as if it were dragged on a dirty floor. I ironed it to get it flat and have had no issues (it’s been rolled out less than 3 hours) with repuckering or bumps reforming. It does move quite easily, so it would benefit from a rug pad. I won’t return it, but I am disappointed that it smells so poorly. I really want to love this rug and will probably be attacking it with vinegar spray tomorrow. (It’s currently snowing, or I’d take it outside and try to remove the smell via sunshine). I’m disappointed that it seems dirty too. I mean, I know it’s a rag rug and it is made with recycled materials, but it shouldn’t look like it spent time on a dirty floor straight out of the package. There also seem to be some crusty things in with the jute- that I’m hoping are just crusted in dirt. I’ve included a few photos of the dirty areas with my fingers pointing at the gross spots. I do love the way it makes my family room look. It’s exactly the aesthetic it needed. If you can’t tell, I’m conflicted. It stinks and is a little dirty, but it is beautiful, appears to be well made, and adds the level of fun we wanted. I’ll update after trying to remove the smells and dirt marks. Edit to update: Still flat after a couple of days. I used carpet cleaner to take care of some of the dirty parts on the cloth and attempted to scrape out the crusty parts of the jute- which was hard to do without pulling the fibers of the jute out of the braid. The smell is decreasing, but still noticeable. There are still some crusty spots that need to be picked out. These are really gross and I’m not sure what they are made of. I still love the design of this rug and think that the smell will go away. Three star review stays- since picking out those crusty parts is an ongoing process and is pretty nasty. ... show more
