Purchased the 12k BTU 230v 6-15 plug unit almost 1month ago (May 30, 2020). It arrived in about one week. Delivered via UPS, although they left it downstairs in foyer of my condo building, i’m only 2 sets of steps up. W/ my neighbors assistance, the 2 of us had no problems. It was packed brilliantly, w/ 4 white plastic strap thingies wrapped around entire package, tightly, strong enough to use as handles, taking my time, slid it right up the stairs. (I’m giving this info, to let ppl know of the delivery exp) sure beats me having to have gone to any store, & the (hassle of both Covid-19, & sales ppl). I already had a sleeve, this fits perfectly,w/ a tad bit of space to spare, & i used some foam supplied in generous amount btw., to fill in the space. The snap-together 4 piece frame finished off the look. Also came w/ a rear guard, which i took off the old rusty junky one, from about 25+ years & it easily screws in w/ 2-4 screws. The packing & everything was in mint condition. (i’ve tons of diff sized pieces of soft and hard foam pieces left over) i just put them away for rainy day purposes/uses. Now..as far as the operation: It works brilliantly. Cools very nicely. Easy to use. Plenty of features. Remote is great! This unit has a timer function, sleep function, & the ‘follow me’ feature on the remote is a nice touch, when u press it, it’ll display the temp on the remote(in cool mode only) of the location of the remote/which obviously is mostly always in the same room! The remote has a nice orange backlit led display. Energy Save function works great! The overall sound is not too bad, more/less like most large in wall sleeve units. I’m not exactly a ‘decible numbers expert’ but, I’m not bothered by a/c noise. So....Compared to my utter NIGHTMARE experience from 2016-2019 w/ THREE diff Frigidaires in a row!! I am SERIOUS. 1 after the other, starting w. the first replacement in 2016 of the original a/c that was in my condo when i moved in 15 years ago. Within just over a year give or take, they-each one, would slowly start malfunctioning, & totally take a nose dive. And even springing for the extra warranty, that too was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I was not about to buy a 4th one from my local Mom/Pop appliance place, who never had a straight answer, nor offered real assistance, just took my $$$, and they only sold that one lone brand-Frigidaire.. LESSON LEARNED the hard way!! The Keystone brand off the bat works like a dream, not just in contrast to my bad experience w/ Frigid., but i really love this a/c & it’s many great features and functions. I posted about 6 pics, including the front/back of the 6-15 plug, hope that helps. For me the price was right also- for a 12,000 btu, @$595-delivered to my door. Rather quiet on both modes, definitely not as quiet as a mini-split but works about the same. The unit I ordered ARRIVED with front bottom corners broken... Fortunately, I'm not that concerned. Plugged it in to check first and when everything worked, I figured it was time to install. Took my friend and I a half hour or so, pictures are of before caulking. This one was replacing a 20 year old unit so the old sleeve was still usable. Ordered the sleeve kit for this brand wall unit just in case and returned it for a refund (had to pay return shipping). This unit seems to work great, effortlessly switches between A/C and HEAT in AUTO mode. Fairly certain the thermostat is inside the remote itself which provides better climate specific to the user's position / location in the room. Overall, I'd say its worth the money, just understand that it could be damaged upon arrival. I knew that going in so I wasn't shocked. Also, if you're installing it by yourself, you'll probably need a hand as its a bit heavy... unless you install these all the time, in which case you probably have a few tricks and a strong back. In my case, we had to lift it up 6ft to install in the wall. Oh yeah, this one has a standard grounded 110V plug. Any grounded outlet will do. My situation has it matched to a 20A breaker so everything's good. Guessing a 15A breaker without other devices connected would work just as well. Hope this one lasts a while. The previous Kenmore unit kept going for nearly 20 years. Guess I'd be lucky to have this one last 10 years with the way things go these days. Overall quality is good. Nice controller. The plastic on the front was broken by the power cord. The plastic covering on the cord was also cut. The cover on the back was also broken. Because this is the second time I've received a broken A/C I am not sending it back. It is too much of a pain. I hope the state I received it in does not effect the longevity of the unit. I would expect more for what we paid. I will say that we ordered this one after we received and returned a broken LG unit. I can say that this has less plastic than the LG, making it slightly better. Still it's very Disappointing UPDATE: I hate how this ac works. If I set it at 68 the temperature in the room may get to 70 or higher, and then if I set it at 67, it gets too cold and goes to around 65. I cannot keep a steady comfortable temperature, and we live in a very moderate climate. I have a baby, so this is even more important to me for sids concerns. Also, the remote if awful. Sometimes it doesn't beep, so I hit the power button twice just to have it turn on and off. There's a big delay between when the button is pushed and when the unit responds. This unit replaced an old Frigidaire and I wish I had just gotten another Frigidaire because this one is terrible. I would not recommend. More updates: I've had this unit for a couple months now. It's 12k btu and my old Frigidaire 10k btu was much stronger and much better at maintaining an even temperature. This one is all over the place hot and cold constantly. Also, I have to put a sock between the vent and the frame around it because when the compressor kicks on the plastic hits the edge and makes so much noise it's ridiculous. The remote continues to malfunction. Sometimes the power button changes the temperature or mode. Sometimes it does nothing and you have to hit it twice. The energy saver mode is also annoying. You have to turn it off every time because it doesn't remember your settings. ... show more
