I have been struggling getting any growth with my plastic jar before this came in. After transferring my starter to this jar and feeding, I finally saw improvements. I believe that the glass's conduction of heat helped the process. I like that it comes with a temp gauge (which is a sticker you have to place yourself) and really helps make sure your starter can thrive. The jar feels like it's built of good quality. Weighs 605 grams and 609 with the elastic strap. The breathable cover and silicone cover (for the fridge) are nice additions. You will love this! Nice open, heavyweight glass, easy to use and clean. The elastic feeding calendar strip is ingenious and an excellent design feature. The spatula is firm and easy to use, and the cloth cover is just perfect. One of those purchases you will be happy about every time you use it!

I’ve been making sourdough for about 8 years and I’m a trained engineer and work-flow specialist. I really understand when something is properly designed and great quality. Everything about this jar is intelligent. The use of either cloth or silicon to cover the top, the day\time band, the very heavily printed numbering and lettering, the thermometer which works very well and the just the inclusion of the weight of the jar so you can weigh your total mix weights. This is a nice piece of equipment. The only reason it’s 4 instead of 5 stars is the taper on the jar makes it slightly harder to clean and it’s a little pricier than some comparable containers. . I ended up buying one that has straight walls that was cheaper too

Good instructions and so far the first batch of bread was great. One warning, it uses fermentation to rise, not yeast. Plan on a lot more work and careful observation to keep from rushing it or letting it try to rise too long. It is a long process with a chunk of work, but the store bought stuff is full of junk we have been working to reduce in our diet for years. They used your hours were absolutely amazing. My wife just started cooking sourdough bread and we needed a jar to keep it in. After reviewing many different items we decided upon buying these. They are rockstar. They have the band on the outside that can measure the growth of your starter and also has a thermometer on the outside that tells you the optimal temperature for the start to rise.
