My 7 year old daughter wanted to learn how to sew. We started with pieces of fabric and buttons, which she caught onto pretty fast. I ordered this kit so that she could do more projects at the beginner level. So far she has made a little purse, a pin wallet (?), and a few other projects on her own (like a belt!). What I like: The projects are cute and are rated by ease. There are projects with all materials provided and some that you need your own materials - this is also clearly noted. What could be improved: I wish the kit included a small pair of scissors, a needle threader, and a small plastic needle case that easily opens and closes. I bought myself an embroidery kit at the same time I purchased this for my daughter. My kit came with everything I needed to get started plus videos. This Let's Learn to Sew kit has an extremely helpful ans detailed manual with colorful pictures; however, if it came with the extra pieces I mentioned before (scissors, needle threader, and needle case) and video tutorials, this would be a much more comprehensive beginner's kit. ... show more

I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loves it. There are many colorful projects in the kit that are easy to cut out and sew....from a heart shaped garland, wallet with button, purse, and a needle holder. The sewing instructions and projects start out very basic/simple and expand to more complicated appliqué techniques. Everything you need to do a project is in there.
