  • Small quiet reasonably priced air purifiers with good reviews
Style: AIRMEGA 200M(W)
I bought 3 to cover my living room kitchen and bedroom. These air purifiers are very silent. I have them running 24/7 and hardly notice they are there except when they kick to a higher level when detecting higher particle levels in the air. I have no way to know if they are actually doing anything except to trust reviews and people on YouTube doing the testing. Replacement Filters seem reasonably priced. Only negative, the air quality light is always on..if a blue light bothers you at night you may need to put it in a corner or get an eye mask. It's not too bright but I generally need it to be pitch black to sleep. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Style: AIRMEGA 200M(W)
I picked these units after a lot of research, finding they are the same as 1512 except for looks, and were on sale by quite a bit. I got 3 for our house. They look great, and setup was really easy. No signs of previous package opening which I appreciate. I was worried about comments of the hepa filters smelling bad but they have no smell. I like the auto mode which seems to work well, it picks up whenever my dogs are near or when using the stove. Other than the highest mode, it is very quiet. Very happy so far! ... show more

  • Magic Box - Love it
Style: AIRMEGA 200M
I love this! I have had it for almost a year and love it enough that I came back to leave a review. We have a bunch of cats and multiple litter boxes. I have this unit set up right near the litter. When the cats go in and dig around, this magic box somehow senses the dust and odor in the air and automatically kicks into to super mode for like 30 seconds and poof, no dust and no smell. I don't know what kind of witch craft or fairy dust went into making these but it really does work! Worth every penny! ... show more

  • New filter smell is noxious
Style: AIRMEGA 200M(W)
I’m lucky enough to walk through my urban environment without any chemical or scent sensitivities. But the HEPA filter in these Coway units are so chemical smelling that I immediately get a headache and nausea from them. It takes a long time of running the unit for the scent to dissipate. The Wirecutter review mentions this horrible, caustic scent but says it’s a resolved problem. It is not. Coway even mentions it in their FAQ. They know it’s a problem. I emailed and asked for a replacement filter because of Wirecutter’s assertion that it was a thing of the past, so surely I just got an old filter? Coway will not send you a new filter, they just tell you to run it in a room with a window open (so if it’s the middle of winter or the height of summer, you have to wait for spring or fall?). For context: I bought one unit, the one with the grid face, in September 2024, when it was 113°F in Arizona and it came with a toxic off-gassing filter. I left it outside for a week and then braved running it inside until the smell dissipated (obviously, one cannot open a window in Arizona in the summer, it doesn’t go below 100°F at any point in the day or night for many months at a time). It was a long 5 days of putting up with that smell. I ordered another unit in October, this time the other style that looks like an iPod shuffle face. Again, the filter smells noxious, and gives me a headache. Upshot: I will not be buying replacement filters directly from Coway, luckily there are lots of third-party offerings out there. Coway KNOWS this is a problem and doesn’t seem interested in solving it, despite making a product promising to make your environment less, not more, unhealthy. Wirecutter has dropped the ball by suggesting it’s no longer an issue. If, like me, you don’t have a million spare rooms to run an off-gassing air polluter behind a closed door with a window open until it converts to an air-cleaner, I’d strongly suggest purchasing from another brand. Update: I got another Coway Airmega. I wanted one for my bedroom. I’m jealous of the people who seem to be getting filters without the smell problem, because it happened again with this unit. It smells like you’ve walked into a cheap carpet warehouse where they also happen to be storing slightly burned sneakers. I’ve never experienced that with the HEPA filters for my AC or any of my vacuums, it’s a Coway specific thing. It’s also mentioned in many reviews if you search here. It’s bad and it lasts for days, over 7 days for the smell to lessen this time. Once that’s over and you’ve just gone ahead and breathed in all those noxious fumes, the unit works great! The auto function is awesome, it really reacts to things that kick up dust, like if I shake out the pet bed or scoop cat litter, sending the unit into high mode for a few seconds in response. When it’s on speed one, which it is most of the time on auto-mode, it’s almost completely silent. I like that I can turn off the large blue air quality indicator light, but why in the world don’t the two green lights that indicate speed also turn off with it? The unit is pretty far from my bed so it doesn’t bother me at night, but they are really bright. I’ll get my replacement filters from someone else, because I’m not going through that awful sick feeling of off-gassing the Coway brand filters again, but I do like the units and how they function a lot. ... show more

  • Air purifier going strong for 2 years
Style: AIRMEGA 200M(W)
Bought this almost 2 years ago and it's still chugging 24/7. It's quiet on ECO and Auto mode and is loud once you hit the max fan but that's every single air purifier out there. Swapping out the carbon and hepa filter is a breeze. Noticeably less motes and dust in the house since using this. Don't know if I would recommend this now as newer air purfier models have come out that have wifi functions near the same price range but if you don't care at all for automation or connectivity this is definitely a winner. ... show more

  • Works even better than I’d hoped!
Style: AIRMEGA 200M(W)
I’ve had this unit set up in my living room for a week now. I bought it to start improving the quality of the air in my home because I’m not a very good housekeeper to begin with, and I’m beginning a major declutter. Today I noticed that the purifier has pulled ALL the dust off the ceiling fan that is 6 feet directly overhead. There’s a second fan in this room that still has dust on it (shown in the third photo), but the fan that is right over the air filtration unit shows a tremendous reduction in dust in just one week. This thing does a remarkable job! (I’m finally using a Swiffer duster to actually dust the room. I was just surprised that it was able to pull so much dust off a ceiling fan from 6 feet away.) ... show more

  • Great Air Purifier (I Hate Dust)
Style: AIRMEGA 200M
I have used several air purifiers in my life. This one is definitely my favorite so far. As with all air purifiers, its not going to make a room completely DEVOID of dust, but this one works very quietly and judging by how often I clean the pre-filter, it does its job very well. I have had this purifier for a short while and it does not have any coil whine, a common problem I have had other brands. If it ever starts having problems I will update this review. ... show more
