That is what I would call these is super duty as they are made to last. As compared to others I have had in the past, these are made of much higher quality materials and hold the edge longer.     • Working just fine in my lathe
I use these things for something or other almost every day. I don't use every single one of them every single day, but at least one of them finds its way into the chuck in my tailstock almost daily. I rarely work with anything that isn't metal, so that's what these are used on 90% of the time. I don't have much to say about how they fit in a 1/4" bit holder, because they go in a keyed chuck that can hold up to 3/8" bits and they fit in that just fine. They are obviously too small to fit in my larger tailstock chucks because they don't go down to 1/4" I haven't had any reason to complain thus far. They do their jobs just fine. This set of 5 countersink drill bits by DKIBBITH features a variety of sizes neatly organized in a protective plastic case. I got these mostly for working with metals and plastic. I was a little confused at first by the description stating that these were rated for steel but in the photo illustrations they suggest otherwise. Although it doesn't recommend steel plate, they do appear to work with plate that I've tried up to 3/16". On steel, they appear to work best with the addition of a coolant or cutting oil and running the drill at slower speeds. I've used many types of countersink bits with varying numbers of cutting flutes but I think the design of the cutting edges is what potentially can give the best results along the with the quality of the high carbon steel. So far these work well on plastics and aluminum but finding the best combination of speed and applied pressure is what will ultimately give the best results with steel. I've used these in both my quick change drill-driver as well as my drill press. They all fit well although the coating on the 1/4" shank can make them a little snug and may also cause them to run a little off center in a drill chuck. For countersinking, this is not usually a big deal but it is something to watch out for. Overall, for the current price of $25.99, this set should last a long time if handled correctly. 4 stars. ... show more

These five counter sinks are good quality, but my favorite part of the set is the 3/4”. There are times when you need the larger size and if don’t have it, you’re stuck. These cut fast and smooth at the proper 90° angle. A lot of quality for the price.

    • They work if you're not interested in making things look nice
Here's the thing, to get decent looking chamfers bits like these need to be straight and not wobble. They do both and you get chattering. On wood that might be OK but on plastic, steel or aluminum you get chatter marks. Not awesome. If you're looking to save money fine. But ask yourself how much money you're saving if you have to return these and start your project over again. ... show more

I don't need to countersink things very often so this bit set was the right size and price for me to try. It worked as expected on the 4 screwholes that I needed for this project. I do appreciate that they provided a nice compact storage case otherwise I can see this getting lost in a tool box somewhere. ... show more

    • shanks dont fit
you get what you pay for. 2 out of 4 shanks dont fit the 1/4 in driver. i guess quality control was sleeping or off that day.

    • Good on metal
I used. The same bit to counter sink many holes in wood, g10, and metal and its still in very good shape. The metal was heat treated but not full hardened in that spot and 6 holes were counter sunk with this bit. You can run the bit in both directions for different effects (some softer material might prefer reverse). My only gripe is that the inside of the box was heavily oiled to preserve the bits to where the foam insert was partially saturated as well as the seam of the case itself so you miggt get oil on something unintentionally. For the money im satisfied. The one bit ive been using is still sharp and hasnt slowed down at all. Plus all of the bits are held in a slot in the foam insert so that good and not banging eachother around. ... show more
