Description

Money Tree features clusters of large, bright green leaves that look great and adds life to a brightly lit room at home, a lightly shaded porch, or in the office. It grows best near a sunny window. Provide the plant with as much light as possible, without placing it directly in sunlight. Water when the top couple inches of the soil are dry (about once a week) and be sure all excess water drains away. If the container does not have holes, use approximately one cup of water, adjust as needed for your environment. The height at dispatch is approximately 16 inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. Money Tree is potted in a 6-inch diameter planter pot. Money Tree is a moderate grower depending on its environment and is hardy in USDA Zone 10. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for house plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot Pachira, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. Be aware of third-party sellers; other companies try to imitate our quality. There are no other authorized Costa Farms sellers. It arrived a little thirsty and dry and initially some leaves were falling off on a regular basis but it’s a happy plant and growing little baby leaves now. This plant doesn’t need a bunch of water so I have a ceramic water container that I placed in the soil and just fill it up every week and a half. Make sure it gets a good amount of sunshine every day ... show more

This review is for a small "money tree." I give the plant itself 5 stars, but am critical that the little nursery pot with a hole in the bottom had been placed in a decorative pot without any hole in the bottom. Sure enough, a couple of days after moderate watering, my meter showed it was too wet. On a hunch I checked and removed the outer decorative non-draining pot. To be sure the pot could drain, I placed it off center on a saucer so the hole is not blocked. My Sunday routine includes winding the clock and checking the wetness of my plants with the meter, watering them based on the meter readings. UPDATE: I reached out to Costa about the horrendous state my plant was when it arrived. They were kind in their response, and immediately sent out a replacement plant. It arrived yesterday, and it is in perfect condition, save a couple of (expected) broken leaves from shipping. It's fully alive and well, and looks waaaaaaay better than the first plant I received (which continues on its death march - I'd hoped the small part that appeared still alive would fight to live, but alas and alack, it's continuing to die off). I am VERY happy with the replacement plant, it looks very healthy (no brown leaves, no funky smell) so I'm very confident it will continue to thrive. Major kudos to Costa's guarantee - they do indeed honor it, so for those that have also had the bad luck of getting a bad plant, be sure to reach out to them and they will make it right. Changing my rating to 5 stars. Thank you, Costa! Original Review: Disappointed that the money tree arrived half dead and sickly. Half the leaves are shriveled - but not dry shriveled like they were out of water too long, but wet shriveled like they were kept in the dark with too much moisture for too long, if that makes sense. The healthiest of the leaves were broken clean off. The plant overall looks super sad and definitely not good. I reached out to Costa to find out what my options are since this is not returnable to Amazon, but Costa supposedly has a guarantee. I've gotten radio silence on their end. Not happy. Will revise this review if I ever hear from them on this fiasco. I bought 3 plants at the same time from Costa - the other two are perfect, this one is the problematic/dead one.
