Description

Hand-selected grower's choice varieties by the expert growers at Costa Farms, the O2 for you collection includes the most efficient, natural air-purifying plants around. These plants are scientifically proven by NASA to be some of the very best plants for clean air. In general, place the plants in a bright spot, but not directly in sunlight. If the container does not have holes, use approximately half a cup of water, adjust as needed for your environment. The height at dispatch ranges from 10-15 inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. Each plant is potted in a lightweight, 4-inch grower’s pot; made from a 100% recyclable 5 material. To help with water drainage, these containers have holes. The plants an range from slow to quick growing and are hardy in USDA Zone 10. Give them a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for house plants. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the plant, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. These arrived right before Christmas. They are very nice plants, 5 out of 6 were alive upon receipt, one was to close to the heat pack and was shriveled and dry. I am definitely not a fern girl this almost dead as well, sorry to say it's not the first one I have failed. The other 4 are beautiful and thriving id buy again. All 5 plants came packaged well and got to me in good condition. One did not survive but the rest are growing beautifully. It takes a few days for the plants to acclimate to their new space so give it time. Well worth the price.

My plants were beautiful little things. However! They were so root bound there as roots growing out of the little holes. I bought the 6" pots and they've got plenty of space to grow above and below. The plants arrived fairly healthy. One died shortly after I got it but I chalk that up to the time the box sat outside. Just one drawback... The box contained a number of mosquitoes (or similar biting bugs.) who hitched a ride from KY to OH. I ended up on the receiving end of a LOT of bug bites. The next time I order - and I will order again - I will unbox outside and give a quick spray of organic pesticide just to be safe. ... show more

I ordered these plants because when I was in the interior landscaping business, Costa Farms was known as an excellent grower of interior plants, and I used many of their products. When these small plants arrived, one had several brown leaves. However, I dropped it when I took it out of the box, so I didn't want to complain, not being able to identify how much damage was already there and how much damage I did by dropping. Of course, the brown leaves were there, but my drop could have caused unseen damage. I removed the bad leaves and watered the plant and expected it to revive and do well. Another plant was totally wilted. But I watered it well, and it seemed to revive and looked good. The third plant was fine. I cared for the plants carefully, and I was one of the first 50 certified interior horticulturists in the nation, so I know how to care for indoor plants. Unfortunately, in spite of my best efforts, the two damaged plants died. I looked at the product description and saw a number for Costa Farms for a guarantee. I called that number, and the man I spoke with said Amazon was responsible for the guarantee. I explained that the Amazon website said Costa Farms was responsible and provided this number to call. He said that wasn't right and gave me a number to call at Amazon. The man who answered said Costa Farms was responsible for the guarantee and gave me a number to call. I told him I had already called that number and the person answering gave me the number I was speaking to him on. He assured me that Costa Farms was responsible, and he would remind them of that. He told me he sent a message to Costa Farms reminding them about their guarantee and promised me someone from Costa would contact me to offer replacements for the two plants that died. I waited for several weeks before writing a review to give Costa Farms time to respond. Unfortunately, they never did. This was very disappointing to me, as the good opinion I had of the nursery from my years as an interior landscaper was tarnished by this. I don't know whether their quality has deteriorated in the 25+ years since I dealt with them, whether they are better with the large plants we used in interior landscaping than the small plants in this order, or whether this was just a confusing glitch. One plant is completely dead, another is umhealthy but could possibly kick back, the other 4 I expect to settle in and live on fine. Just a bit wilted and soil was very dry when it arrived. Got them fresh damp soil and expect a perfect recovery. Nice little plants though , the ones that were alive. They were packed safely, box was in good shape. They were wrapped in plastic and paper with a bamboo stick so they didnt get smashed around in transport. So must have been temperature or lack of light that poorly affected a few. The size was as expected for a starter plant, reasonable price. Loved the variety and info on each plant, just wish they all would have made it. ... show more
