At 20mls. thickness, this tarp is able to withstand some good strong winds. As a sunshade, this tarp allows about 75% opaqueness of light to filter in (assuming it's a white tarp). Good investment. Not sure how long it will last during the summer months with intense sunlight (UV rays).

    • I Got Tired of Puny Tarps Falling Apart
As the title suggests, I am always trying to economize and sometimes it costs me a bit of time and irritation. I built an eight foot square steel wire and post cat cage for her darling little feline princess. Of course, it had to have a waterproof roof over it and I was not prepared to build a trussed roof with shingles, so I put wire and post panels across the top and used a tarp to provide the rain protection. After having to replace the tarp twice in as many years, I decided to go heavy. Honestly, this tarp is heavy duty and rugged. The tarp is heavy duty, thick and sturdy. It is not flexible. I got it for the tractor in which I take the tarp off a couple of time a week. It is hard to cover the tractor. It would be great for long term covering.

This really is a heavy duty tarp. It's a bit stiff because it is thick, but it is of better quality than most tarps you find - by far. Happy with purchase.

Bought this for winter chicken coop protection and it is holding up well so far (through at least one extended deluge, a windstorm with 60 mph gusts, and now below freezing temps). The grommets are satisfactory, not exceptional, but have functioned well, anchoring via short bungees to cup hooks on the coop's four corners. The tarp itself is heavy, large enough that it overhangs front, back and sides (I added four extra rooftop "rafters" atop the roof before tarping) so it provides extra insulation from winds as well as rain; a bit of overhang above the front entry door and back cleanout panel; and nest box extension coverage. With this tarp plus the clear plastic window covers and the (4) girls' own body heat, they are snug and their water has not frozen at 27° F - though we'll see what happens if we hit 10-12° this year. So far, so good and this looks like it was worth the extra expensefor this tarp! ... show more
