This is an nice blackout shade that fits very well for a non-custom shade. The valance at the top fits snugly into the bracket, so there's very minimal light through the top, which is better than some roller shades I've tried in the past. The shade is true to size, and I ordered it in the 28" size to fit my 28.5" window width using an inside mount - perfect fit. Once I got the brackets installed and unwrapped the blind, I was unable to free the pull bar. This is because they hadn't secured the roll, and either it's shipped with it to the back or, more likely, it slipped to the back during the shipping process. If this happens to you, you can simply unscrew the two screws from the end cap, lift it off, free the pull bar and set it back into place, making sure it's properly nested on end. You do not have to take both ends off to resolve this, one does the trick. You'll need to install the pull tab onto the bar to finish the installation. Once I had it up, it pulls down very freely/easily, but is a bit more difficult to raise back up. I didn't see any way to adjust the tension so maybe that's just how it is. I'm going to reach out to the company to see if there's some way to make an adjustment and will update this review if I get any response. Aside from the small issues with this window shade, it works well overall, is easy to install, and has the added benefit of having a valance attached, which blocks a lot more light at the top than similar shades. There doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the tension, so mine doesn't go up very well, but as long as it continues to go up, I'm satisfied. ... show more
