I live in Nevada and the summer sun is brutal. Hung these around my pergola out back. They havent been put to the test yet, as its cold her now but they will be soon. Great quality. I think they will be ideal in blocking the strong sun and allowing us to sit out back without baking.

We bought 2 of these shades. We use this screen on the west side of the house and love it. Since the tree in out front yard fell down we don't have any protection from the afternoon/evening sun. This shade was really easy to install (I'm guessing, but I didn't hear any cussing). It provide the cooling we need and it also makes your house very private. No one can see in but you can see out. It does make the inside of the house a little darker because of the shade but really worth it. It also rolls up really easy when you don't want to use it. I’ve owned 3 roll down screens for my back porch. They were cheap bamboo/plastic type and they never lasted and were too transparent to provide any privacy. This screen, although cost significantly more than the others, I have to say, you get what you pay for. The quality is superb, it was easy to install and it provides a lot of privacy.
