I bought this for my 50in tv in my game room and It is perfect. The materials are the typical pressboard/mdf found in most furniture of this price but it feels substantial. Assembly isn't hard, a bit tricky in spots, and is mostly dowels and the cam lock system also popular in other furniture. They do include a little wood glue for the dowels which is nice. The side doors are the only negative as they are cheap shiny plastic and look a little out of place, I don't know why they couldn't have made them the same material as the rest especially when the center door is mdf too. They are easily left off if you don't want them though. The odd positive/negative is the stands height. Being a console gamer I wanted something a little shorter as my game chair is only 13 in off the ground and with this stand and the height of my 50in tv I am dead center viewing wise (I'm 5'10). Because of that I would maybe hesitate to have this as my main tv stand unless you have short furniture (like a futon for your couch) or in a bedroom where you would have to contend with the bed height. But In a tv watching room, kids room, game room, or even an apt where space is tight, this is a really nice stand that doesn't look or feel as cheap as the price might suggest, recommended. ... show more

There are a lot more plastic pieces than I had imagined. The doors are plastic and the poles are plastic. The doors are quite flimsy. Other than that it is very nice.

I am going to tell you a little bit about the product, as well as address some of the reviews, which had me hesitant when I purchased this. This looks: This looks very nice and eye pleasing. I want functionality, but I would not have purchased this if it was not eye pleasing, considering it is in open view and I get to look at it all the time. (Similarly I will not purchase something that does not work) The Construction: This is largely made of laminated OSB wood. Most furniture is made of this stuff, unless it is high end. It is not bad, and you probably own furniture made of this already. The 5 posts that you see on the picture that hold the top board where the TV would sit on, to the bottom portion are made of plastic. they look metal, but they are plastic. I am NOT afraid that these will not hold. They are pretty solid. Again, they are rated for 85 lbs, so just make sure you are within the limits and you will be fine. The 2 doors on the sides are made of plastic. While I think glass would have been better, this is not a problem for me. Besides, you do not have to install them if you do not want to. you can leave them out, and it looks just as good. In fact I am debating of taking them off. My only problem with them is that they drag when opening and closing, and this should not be happening. Taking off one star for this The Assembly: Alright, there are a lot of reviews bashing this because they could not assemble it or had a lot of trouble doing so. I do not think it was all that hard. While the manual is not one of the best ones out there, I was able to figure everything out pretty fast. It took me about 30 minutes from the time of receiving this, to watching my TV on it. Now this does require some basic skill, but not a lot. You will also need a screw driver and a hammer, which I think everyone should have. But basically, if you can use screw driver, and can hammer nails, you will be able to assemble this. This product is good for the price. I have no real complaints. There are areas where it can be improved on, for example it can be made of real and solid wood, it can use metal or other materials instead of plastic, and the doors could be glass. If these are improved though, the price will be higher too. So for the price I am very happy with what I got. I recommend this. ... show more

There are a few things about this item that, had I known before ordering, I wouldn't have ordered it. 1. It has no "feet". The bottom of the unit, a flat piece of particle board with a laminate finish, sits flat on the floor. I put 6 adhesive-backed felt-bottom feet on it to protect my laminate flooring. Just be aware that this is the case, and plan accordingly. 2. The two doors that appear to be translucent glass in the picture? Well, never mind that. They're a brittle molded plastic that is completely opaque. So forget about using your remote for equipment you store in those compartments. And be really, really careful with the doors. NOT kidproof. 3. There are parts present that aren't described in the directions, notably extra stops for the center door. The holes for them are in the drawings; they just are never mentioned. There are parts depicted in the directions that aren't there, notably 2 extra nails for attaching the backing. There are holes for 4 across, not 6 as pictured. 4. Warning: fingerprint apocalypse incoming. This thing is very prone to ugly smudges appearing at the slightest touch. I recommend wearing white gloves during assembly. Not joking here. 5. On the unit I received, one of the assembly cams was missing. So be sure to check not only the bagged parts, but the ones that come pre-installed. 6. Damage. Whoo, boy. This is my second try on this one. Fedex refused to take the first one they sent, because it was clearly already damaged. The second one was also damaged. The box had rips and tears in it, and there was very slight damage to two of the horizontal panels. Obviously the package is heavy (nearly 54 lbs) and had "team lift" stickers on it. But when has that ever meant anything to carriers? One truck, one guy. The result is a lot of rough handling along the way, and you know that it doesn't take much to completely ruin something, especially fiberboard. My next purchase is a to be a TV... and now I'm not so sure I want to take a chance on trusting them to get it to me without damage. Way to go, Amazon Prime. Amazon was not at fault, and the return was handled very smoothly. But if the knuckle-draggers and their managers can't be trusted, that goodwill is squandered. In spite of all of this, it looks okay and will serve its purpose. One final caveat: NEVER PICK THIS THING UP OR MOVE IT BY THE TOP SHELF. It's attached with plastic screw-on caps, nothing else. It will break easily, especially if there is anything at all in the cabinets. Caveat Emptor, okay? ... show more

It's not a bad item for the money and the assembly was East enough. The unfortunate part is that the holes were not cut perfectly , and as a result, the locking nuts did not hold the screw properly upon tightening and now several areas of the base are kinda cracked.
