  • Firmware update availability
The media could not be loaded. I have the older version and I mainly use it for pictures. I got rid of most of my Canon lenses when moving to Sony. I currently only have all prime lenses for my Sony a6300 and the grey market (reselling sites) has plenty of canon lenses for much less available. So I ended up getting this adapter because of the usb option to update firmware and it's price. It's still very much cheaper than the metabones and other adapters which in my opinion are over priced and does basically the same thing. It's feels sturdy and has good weight on it because of the metal elements. The updating may be a bit confusing as it was for me. But it was actually quite easy. Updating the firmware: 1. Go to the manufacturer site (download site has all firmwares listed) 2. Download the updates and save to your computer. 3. connect the usb to the adapter and computer. The window should come up with a new drive letter and named E Mount. 4. Copy and paste the download from the website to the E mount folder. You will be copying and pasting 2 files. A .nex and .txt file. 5. After it copies the window will close and reopen in a few seconds and look like nothing happened. Don't worry it actually updated. 6. Connect the adapter with a lens and to your camera. 7. Turn on your camera and go into the menus. The tackle box looking tab in the menus will have the version number. You will have to version listed. The camera version and then the Lens version. In my case the current version is 22 and the display in the menus says Ver. 22. Please watch my video for the auto focus sample and unboxing it. Thanks! ... show more

  • Great option for photographers!
Overall this worked well, even with a lens that was technically unsupported, Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 III. I definitely recommend it for use with photography. It acquires focus, the image looks great and the aperture works. What else could you ask for? The build quality is solid. It holds to the camera and lens well. You can also change the auto-focus from phase to contrast by restarting your camera. I'm hoping future updates will support more lenses, and the fact this has the ability to be updated means that this can actively be addressed. Additionally customer support seemed to be good from the company and they truly care. I don't recommend this for use with videos unless you can either use single AF or manual AF. For those use cases it works great. However continuous AF only works with photos, not with video. Something to be aware of and it is clearly noted in the item description. If you have EF glass and want to adapt it for photography to a Sony E mount camera, then this is a good choice. ... show more

  • Not that Really good!
Size: CM-EF-L
This is a review update, 7 months after purchasing it. From the beginning I felt that it was a bit loose, but I never had a problem until last week at a wedding... when I moved the camera, that movement cut off the recording, losing an important moment, and today it happened again. I wanted to warn you that if you use it with sudden movements it can cause you a lot of problems. Old review I bought an Lumix S5 and I have been a canon user all my carreer.. I got a lot of canon lenses and all of them work properly.. the continuos autofocus it's not great, but it's not the fault of the Commlite... it's the contrast autofocus of the camera, the lenses keep up the best as they can. ... show more

  • If you need to use Canon Lens it is worth it, but there are some limitations.
I'm using on my Sony A7RIII and I've rented a Canon 11-24 F/4. 1. The auto focus only started working when I had my battery grip on the camera, but, locked so many times that I've shot mostly manual. 2. Image Stabilization was OK, some motion blur but nothing major 3. Picture quality is good at the end when manually focusing, it is a good adapter for the price, but know the limitations and you'll be able to accomplish the job. ... show more

  • The Commlite HS AF adapter EF-E HS hunts on Sony A7II
I bought the Commlite Adapter to use Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II on a new Sony A7 II. In AF-S, the adapter works great and the exposure works. However, when using it for the video recording on the A7-II in AF-C, the lens does micro- hunting and never stops. When the kit Sony 28-70mm is used, there is no problem. The AF-C operates as expected. I used the Canon 50mm with a Viltrox adapter on Olympus and Panasonic cameras and do not have any problems, so the lens is good and as well as the camera. Will send this back and take a look at the MC-II. ... show more

  • It’s ok. Autofocus hunts a lot.
Be warned — auto focus does not work properly with this adapter. It hunts for a while (focusing in and out) before it finally figures it out. It does usually figure it out eventually, but taking pictures of puppies or children is really hard when they’re moving constantly. However, every lens I’ve tried (4) has worked with this adapter. It does work, just the auto focus is pretty bad. ... show more

  • Works great on a7Rii, Riii and a7iii
This adapter performed well on the a7R2, a73 and a7R3. It has a USB port for future firmware upgrades. Big plus on this. Using the Canon 70-200 IS II as the control lens, i have no complaints. Save your money and pick up this adapter for your Sony if you plan on using Canon lenses.
