My furnace is out of commission so my wood stove is our only source of heat in a large house. Because of the location of the stove, most of the house (especially my bedroom) doesn't get to feel a lot of that heat. I bought this little fan and have it pointed to blow heat around to behind the stove, leading to the bedrooms. Over all it seems well built. My only concern would be how thin the blades are. However I got a lot of use out of it over the winter and it has held up well. Moves a lot more heat than I thought it would. I plan on getting a second next winter.

It takes a tone of surface heat for this thing to actually move (measured with infrared laser, about 200F.) You would have to burn you wood stove or other appliance at dangerously high temps for this thing to function at all. There are many other choices for this type of item. The media could not be loaded. My freestanding fireplace is gas, not wood, but this works perfectly on it. Since it's not electric, or big, don't expect 'wind' from it. It just creates air flow to circulate the hot air from the fireplace, which it does very well. I Have been pondering getting a stove fan for some time. I finally broke down and bought one. It just came Thursday and I set it up this morning. Once the wood stove got going, I couldn't believe how much air it was moving. My wife started to complain how hot it was (it was directed at her). Turning the fan away from her made it comfortable. It's much smaller than it looks in the pic, so I was disappointed when it arrived but it does a good job circulating the heat even with its small size.
