  • 5 days camping with weather
Size: 6 Person Style: Dome W/ Screen Room
So, I have to say I like this tent for the design and price. I chose this tent for weekly camping trips with my adventure cat that also enjoys glamping. The enclosed porch holds a travel cat tree, food and cat box, shoes, lots of odds and ends, even a chair at times. Its super convient and easy to clean with the mesh drain Inside is fairly big and I loved standing up but I wouldn't share it with more than one other person. It would feel cramped with more. Now the quality of the tent is lacking. I read the reviews and knowing about the complaints I made adjustments on how I set the tent up. First, the fast pitch part was ok. Im 50, female and set the tent up alone. It took me about 30 minutes because I was watching my cat explore the woods. I first I noticed while I was attaching the clips to the poles, that the seams were poorly sewn. They were pulling the threads too tightly and I was worried that they would tear. Also while bending the poles to sit in the 4 corner posts they creaked and moand to the point I thought they would snap but they did not. Inside the tent many, seams just didn't match up, many were off by 1/2 to an inch, so no matter how perfectly the tent was set up, it puckered here and pulled too tight there. It looked off and sloppy, it also let daylight seap in. The dark technology was kind of a joke. (I dont care, not what I bought it for) Maybe its the rain fly that has the technology because I had a very small glow stick sitting 5 feet from the tent and where the tarp didn't cover, I could see the glowstick light. (A small cheap glowstick) it appears to me that only the window coverings were extra dark. The rest of the tent was just a normal tent. The fabric is of the sheerest material, very cheap. There were numerous runs in the materials, letting light come in. It also came in around the pole/clip seams outside. I recommend getting flex tape or something similar and several pole splints. How I set the tent up. First, I didn't bother with the rain fly. I knew it would rain and I was expecting high winds at least one day and people have complaind about the sewing on that, with wind ripping it. So, I used an 11'x 16' foot tarp and made an a frame over the tent with it. I used guy lines to anchor it securely. This achieved fixes to several complaints. Firstly, it was now rain and wind proof, when I had 35-40 mile an hour gusts and it rained hard 7 straight hours, the tarp took all the abuse. The tent wasn't tossed around, damaging the material and poles or getting wet. Secondly, there was no issue with condensation. I also added a tarp under the tent (not peeking out anywhere around the sides) and a ground tarp inside the tent. This protects your tent from tears but also assists in keeping the tent floor and your personal items nice and dry. Results, the entire tent stayed bone dry, even the porch area was dry. I was pleased with it overall but it will take extra work to protect it and your valuables. The last night of my camp, was beautiful out, I took the tarp down and watched the stars from bed. It was awesome. It's rough overall but with care, you can probably get a few years out of it. ... show more

  • Cool and Dark
Size: 4 Person Style: Dome W/ Screen Room
My fiancé and I use this tent for very casual camping- usually within state parks. Our first time setting up, we had a little issue with arranging the rain fly- it wasn’t expressly clear which is the front and back. Our first night it down-poured, we were in a heavily covered area but it help up well- no water inside. The porch is a great large size. The tent itself comfortable for a queen size air mattress as well as gear for two for a long weekend. While the tent itself is not DARK it’s a massive dog fence to traditional tents. We did not experience the uncomfortable 6am wake up as the sun broke. It stayed cooler and felt like you had sunglasses in the tent. If we tore this I would replace it with another without hesitation. Great family camping tent! ... show more

  • Not as black out as we hoped.
Size: 6 Person Style: Dome W/ Screen Room
We went to Rock Fest in Wisconsin and used it for the 1st time there. We had a massive storm the 2nd night we were there. We did forget the water proof spray so some of the water that came in was our fault, but the mesh vent in the covered porch area right in front of the door of the sleeping area let a lot of water seep in. It was like walking into a pool the next morning. The tent did survive the torrential rain and wind so big marks there! It was supposed the be a blackout tent and we were surprised by how much light did get in so lower marks there. It did keep it cooler inside during the heat of the day. The directions were dumb, pictures that made no sense. I guess Coleman thinks people can't read any more. Luckily the hubby and I have set up many tents so it wasn't that difficult one we figured out which poles went where. It IS NOT a 6 man tent. Maybe 3 normal size people if you don't have cots. The door location makes it difficult to put more than that. All in all I give it a 3.5-4 stars. ... show more

  • Great light blocking tent
Size: 4 Person Style: Classic
I literally just got done camping so this is an accurate timely review. Easy set up. Tent, 2 major poles, 4 corner slots/pins for the poles and stakes, and a rain fly with its own pole. Set up with my son and I was 10 minutes max. It took that long because he is inexperienced with tents. I’m a dark sleeper at home, no lights or I’m up. I mean blacked out windows, black out blinds, black out curtains, and any electronics with standby lights are taped or covered. This tent with the rain flap on and the back window, door, and door window zipped up will get you as close as humanly possible with this kind of tent. Obviously it’s not a perfect blackout but that’s just not possible with that kind of fabric or design. Though, the only way I could tell that dawn was breaking was by opening one of the above mentioned openings. Would recommend but keep in mind, this isn’t a perfect blackout tent (It’s really freaking close though). Plus for that price you are getting more than your moneys worth. ... show more

  • Simple, spacious and good air ventilation
Size: 6 Person Style: Classic
Easy to set up, ventilation is good, fiberglass poles seem strong, and the dark feature is soothing. I’m very impressed with this tent at $109. I also own a Kodiak Flexbow canvas tent and a Cabelas Alaskan Guide. This Coleman tent isn’t made with the higher grade materials but it does the job at a lower price point. We needed a lighter yet still spacious tent for a 5 day trip for 3 people and this was perfect. I question the bad reviews that have leaking water inside the tent. There’s rules to follow for setting up tents in wet conditions. Like using a smaller tarp than the tent. Using the tents guy lines. Etc Only gripe I have is the storage bag. It’s made of thin material and has an “expandable” feature that doesn’t really do much. I threw mine in the trash and got a heavy duty duffel bag to store it. ... show more
