I was not able to find anywhere in the description but these are upcut bits. It did not matter for my project but I am sure most CNC folks would like to know. I needed a 1/8 inch bit where the spiral flutes were over 3/4 of an inch. This bit has more than that but I could get them next day so I bought 2 of them. Since some reviewers said they broke, I ran my cuts at 90 feet per minute with 7 equal passes. Got a very nice cut and no tear out at the top. Was using 3/4 inch plywood with an oak finish. Not sure how long they will last but they did fine on this particular project. ... show more

    • Absolute garbage
We cut a lot of 3/8” acrylic and decided to give these bits a try. They break almost as soon as they make contact. Doesn’t seem to matter what your speeds and feeds are, they just break! Just buy good bits from Amana!

Don’t buy it! I used it one time, just for it to break in half the second time!! And this was after waiting for it for 3 weeks when it fell under 2 say prime shipping!!

    • Bit broke after very light use
On first use, after only six passes at 4mm depth, the bit broke at the base.

    • Nice clean cuts, but take it easy
I used this router but in a cordless router. It made nice cuts, but make sure to not go very deep for any pass. 1/8” to 3/16” is as much as I would chance since snapping this thin bit is a very real possibility.

The media could not be loaded. I'm no expert regarding CNC machining (although I'm working to become one eventually), but from what I read online 3-fluted end mills are good for smoothly and rapidly cutting through wood and other soft materials, since for a given revolution of the spindle more material is removed vs. 1 or 2-flute mills. At least this seems to be the case in my limited experience, which really makes me like this Yokishun 3 Flute 1/8 inch Cutting Diameter end mill. It's got a 1/4" shaft which I try to use mostly all the time so I don't have to keep swapping out collets. In my first test with the bit I ran it a lot faster than I have in the past (1000 mm/minute vs. 500-700 mm/minute that I've been mostly cutting at), yet even my semi-anemic 75W spindle had absolutely no problem with it. No chattering, excess vibration, or any other such complaints! It's solid carbide for strength, long lasting sharpness, and durability; plus the coating provides additional smoothness for clean cuts and even longer cutting edge life. Like all upcut mills when cutting in soft woods, there is still a bit of a tattered top surface at the cut line, but it's minimal - requiring just a very light sanding with a very fine sandpaper to clean it up.
