Description

Read more Suitable Material Plywood, laminates, MDF, and other Composite Materials Read more The Compression Router Bit The compression cutters are designed with both up and down-cut flutes. The top portion of the length of cut, closest to the shank, has a left hand spiral, forcing chips down. The bottom portion of the length of cut, closest to the end, has a right hand spiral, forcing chips up. When cutting, the opposing flute directions generate counteracting up-cut and down-cut forces. The opposing cutting forces stabilize the material removal, which compresses the composite layers, combatting delamination on the top and bottom of a workpiece. Since compression cutters do not pull up or press down on a workpiece, they leave an excellent finish on layered composites and lightweight materials like plywood. It is important to note, however, that compression cutters are suited specifically to profiling, as the benefits of the up and down-cut geometry are not utilized in slotting or plunging operations. • Well done
Amazing bit but I broke mine due to my very own aggressive use. I have a Shopbot desktop max and it’s pretty much an industrial grade machine in a desktop format. Due to it being really robust I went with a depth of .3 and 80ipm plunge and feed of 80 ipm it went through the first board well, the second my hold down failed me, the board shifted and boom, but broke but it is lovely, sharp, well made and I appreciate it. Getting 3 more. ... show more

  • Remember it's an Up/Down bit
Remember it's an Up/Down bit so it will leave material on the top but easily sand able. You do get a clean carve on the bottom

  • Horrible Finish
What an awful bit. Used for CNC, hoping to reduce the fuzzies on plywood. This made it so much worse, and the chip out was so significant, ruined a project. So many better bits out there.

  • Design is excellent, but durability it is not
