    • Stopped working
This heater started out great and kept the ladies warm in the coop during some pretty cold days. However, only two months later, one of the panels is no longer working. I was hoping it would have lasted at least a few years, not months.

Kept the ladies warm during the snow storm. I hung it sideways against the chicken cook door. Warms up fairly warm and fast as soon as you plug it in. It is a bit hot to the touch,but the chickens ain't gonna be touching it. Good heater for the coop. :P

    • Seems to work well, we're only on day 1
It seems to work pretty well so far. I put it near the water dish to keep it from freezing and to give the chickens a nice, warm spot to hang out. It isn't a constant heat though, so I will have to see how well it works during the upcoming series of -18C/0°F days we're looking forward to this week.

I absolutely LOVE my 220W Chicken Coop Heater from Alpcouts! We initially got it to use in our Catio to keep our kitty warm in the cool Oregon winters but still let her enjoy her outside time year round. I was so excited when I discovered that it was super portable and actually had a stand so you didn’t have to actually attach it to anything. We live full time in an RV so being able to pick up and move is important to us and this heater is lightweight, folds easily into a small easy to store item. I use to as a heat source when I’m sitting on our patio on cool days and I like it better than a space heater because it’s not blowing hot air at you so you don’t feel dried out. Even though it’s super lightweight and easy to move-the stand is well designed, making it difficult to tip over. It heats up quickly and gives a nice steady radiant heat. This could be great at any outdoor activity where you have access to power and where you want a spot to warm up. Definitely worth the money! ... show more

    • Minimal heat output
I bought this heater for my coop since we were expecting several nights of sub-freezing temperatures. I mounted it by the roosting bars hoping to take the edge off the cold for the hens overnight, but it puts our so little heat that I can't feel anything with my hand held up only a couple of feet in front of it. I could see maybe using it for chicks in a brooder if they could get right up to it for some heat, or maybe putting it RIGHT behind the water bell (I'm talking almost touching it) might help keep the water from freezing as fast, but in the coop I don't believe it was at all effective. As it turns out, fortunately, my girls are more cold hardy than I gave them credit for without the extra heat I had in mind to give them. ... show more

Been using it for about a month. Got too warm if I left it on all night. (Small coop for 6 hens). I added a timer so it comes on and off several times during the night- worked perfectly!

I purchased 2 of these heaters specifically to use for a feral cat house as the mother is about to give birth and it’s 29 degrees outside and the description says safe to use with pets so they won’t get burned and one of the reviewers said it doesn’t get hot just warm so she uses it for her cats. But 250 degrees is definitely more than warm! It also mentioned using UL listed products. There may be some part in it, but this product is not UL listed at all.. The face of this heater gets to 250 very quickly and would definitely burn any person or animal that touched it. Reference: “An applied heat of 131 degrees Fahrenheit causes second-degree burns on exposed skin. Pain receptors overload and become numb at a temperature of 140 F. At 162 F, human tissue is destroyed on contact” It’s made from ABS which can be toxic when heated and there is absolutely no UL listing on the product, box, or paperwork. It also says it can be wall mounted but the back has a sticker that says “danger high temperature when operating”, would you really want that up against your wall? I am really upset. I really need to heat this space and this is the 3rd heater I have purchased that I would be afraid to leave unattended. I am so tired of all these companies claiming how safe their product is but when you get it you realize it’s not safe at all! Also it smells awful when you heat it up. There’s no way I would put this in a small enclosure with any kind of animal and especially not little kittens. They could be badly burned if they touched it. I have had it plugged in in my kitchen for about 15 minutes and the smell is making me feel nauseous. So aside from all the safety issues I wouldn’t put it in a small space for that reason too. I’m so disappointed and now I have to search for something else and wait again. The whole idea of a heater for chickens or pets is to leave it in during the night so they don’t freeze but there is no way I would leave this running overnight. ... show more
