  • Perfect Bedding for a Clean, Odor-Free Coop!
As a first-time chicken owner, I wanted to ensure my coop was as clean and comfortable as possible for my flock, and this premium hemp bedding has met my expectations so far! The first thing I noticed was how absorbent it is—moisture is not an issue, and odors are practically nonexistent. Even after a few weeks of use, the coop stays fresh with the deep litter method, which makes my chores much easier to manage in winter. The quality is excellent. I love that it’s eco-friendly, pesticide-free, and produces minimal dust. It feels good knowing I’m providing a safe, healthy environment for my chickens while also choosing a sustainable product that will eventually make great compost for my garden. Yes, it’s a bit pricier than some alternatives, but the longevity more than makes up for it. A little goes a long way, and I can tell this bale will last me for quite some time. Overall, I’m thrilled with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a superior bedding solution. ... show more

  • Amazing Bedding for a Happy, Healthy Coop!
We recently switched to RentACoop Hemp Bedding after using sand for a while. While sand was easy to clean, the dust it created became a real issue for us and the chickens. Hemp bedding has been a breath of fresh air—literally! It's super absorbent, and the coop stays dry and fresh for much longer than it did with sand. The odor control is fantastic, too, which means no more frequent cleanings to keep the smell down. One of the best parts is that this product was one of the more reasonably priced options we found. Despite the great quality, it’s affordable, which is a huge plus! The hemp fibers are also smaller in size, making it surprisingly easy to clean with a litter scoop—just as easy as sand, but without all the dust. The bedding is soft and natural, and my chickens seem to love scratching around in it. I also appreciate how eco-friendly it is—it's fully compostable and breaks down perfectly, which has been great for our garden too! Switching to RentACoop Hemp Bedding was the best decision. It’s dust-free, easy to maintain, and keeps the coop fresher for longer. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cleaner, healthier coop at a reasonable price! ... show more

  • this is so much nicer than corn cob bedding
i know the price may seem high..but it goes a LONG way for using in finch aviaries and the cockatiel cage..i did 3 six foot long finch aviaries and the cockatiel cage with maybe 15 percent of the bag..it stays so dry, and works so well i eliminated the grates on the bottom of the cages..and you can use a kitty litter scoop to sift out the concentrated areas where they sleep..but the maintenance is so much lower than using corn cob or paper with grates..plus its a lot easier to compost..very low dust..you can sift out any area you can see and let it work for weeks at a time..I have been keeping gouldians for the last 25 years plus..and they really like this..and so do i..there is no smell..little dust, and it looks so much better..and think over time, its actually more economical than corn cob..i already ordered a second bale just to be sure to have a long supply on hand....probably the best new thing i found in the last 20 years for my birds..and the fact that its pesticide free is critical to me..the bales are really compact..you get a lot for your money.. ... show more

  • The best chicken litter I've found so far
The product is expensive, but when I calculate how long I have heard it will last compared to pine shavings or chopped straw, the price is just about the same since the hemp does not need changing as frequently. I have been using it for about 3 months now, others have used it for a year with the original litter in place. So far, there is zero smell after 3 months of use by 10 chickens who are in the coop at least part of every day at this time of year. No ammonia smell accumulates and it stays dry even though my coop is on soil and we have had lots of rain. With other litters, I've had to add products such as sweet PDZ in order to keep odor under control. So far, I have added nothing to the hemp and don't need to. The droppings dry out right away. I like that it stays put and does not fly around getting into the feeders and waterers. Nor does it migrate into the dust bath area. My chickens seem to like it just fine too. I have 3 large bags of the product on an 8'x12' area of my coop (The rest is sand under the roost bars and a large sand area for dust bathing). I may add a 4th bag eventually because I like the litter to be deep but there does not seem to be any need at present. I hope that as more hemp is grown in the US that the price will come down, but if it does indeed last a year or more, I'm happy with that! UPDATE AFTER 11 MONTHS: The original hemp bedding is still in the coop. I added another bag and it's all still in good shape. No odor, continues to stay dry despite some very rainy weather. I do clean up obvious droppings at the end of each day, but there is plenty more absorbed into the litter. I am buying a couple more bags because it's been in place a year and I like litter to be fresh, but will add them on top of the old litter which there is no reason to discard. ... show more

  • Mixed with orchard grass hay this is great hamster bedding!
I won't be getting this again as it's not cost effective as just getting the $10 bag of aspen shavings from walmart but I really wanted to try this out for my dwarf and syrain hamsters! My dwarf has enjoyed burrowing in it and it's helped her to calm down some. My Syrian just kind of ignores it though but she's old so it makes sense. I do wish it really had more in it though. I was hoping it would be enough to fill at least 14 inches of bedding in both their cages but it's wasn't even enough for one but I made it work with more hay and paper bedding. I was a bit worried about it being dusty but it's not at all! My usual paper bedding is has much more dust! Only reason I give it 4 stars is the size amount! This bedding seems to be very versatil and can be used for loads of animals. Just be sure if you are getting this for a burrowing rodent you use orchard grass hay or meadow hay in between layers to safely support burrows! 😊 ... show more
