Amazon is responsible for the package contents when selling a refurbished item. I know this as I contacted the manufacturer, Ring, and they were unwilling to help. Amazon wanted me to return the full package, even though I've installed the doorbell, in order to recieve a new replacement simply in order to get the correct "security screws". What happened? The device is fine (and great). The final step of installation requires the user to use a special (provided) screwdriver in order to install "security screws". Unfortunately, when Amazon repackaged the refurbished item (2nd generation), they provided the first generation's installation kit. This kit has incompatible screws. See image -> screwdriver bit is inoperable with the specialized screw heads. So yeah, amazon won't make this right in a straightforward way. Ring's customer service says it is 100% amazon's issue to resolve. Thus, path of least resistance, and in an effort to preserve my sanity, I've had to order a replacement installation kit at my own expense, thus negating most of the savings of purchasing a refurbished item in the first place. UPDATE: A mystery package arrived a few days latter. Amazon sent the correct screws, despite phone support saying this was not possible. Go figure. They made it right! ... show more

We wired this into our doorbell. It worked fine, but spotty Wi-Fi signal because our router was too far away. So I exchanged one of the router antennas with a high gain antenna, the Ring works great and I have wifi in the yard now. High gain antenna about 7 bucks, made it an easy fix and better than the repeaters I have used in the past. Good live feed and audio on my phone app or on pc. ... show more

It works as advertised. However, the glitches were in the setup, which seemed unduly complex and seemed to go on forever. At one point I was to scan a QR code. A single sheet had a place for one but that place was blank white. I tried the device and the shipping box. Nothing. I finally found a code inside the "manual" that worked. The screwdriver they supplied was a crudely-made phillips; the security screws need a security Torx. Fortunately I had one of those. ... show more
