Needed something for my cat to use to get to her bed at the top of the closet. She had previously been using my clothes to claw her way up. Set up was a breeze, the low ceilings in my basement made it so I didn't need to cut any of the plastic support rods. I even had to leave out 1 platform and one center extension. If she ever claws through the material I can use these for replacements. She was a bit cautious of the tree since it does has some wobble to it, not enough to fall over, but enough that she was nervous using it. I managed to fit it up against the wall of the closet which gave it enough tension/support that it's very solid now. Our two 6 month old kittens love this thing. They race around the house and throw thmselves at it, at full speed. They play quite aggressively on it. It wiggled & wobbles but has not ever looked ready to fall. They loved climbing up right away. Coming down required some trial and error. We installed it in front of the sliding glass doors. They watch birds and squirrels from all the perches. They so love the height. They lay on the top perch and dangle an arm, like he's the king of the world. The fabric is weird, like cheap car carpet or something. It catches their claws often. I think I'm going to wrap the pile in rope. Maybe cover the perches in a more friendly fabric. This product was an open box Amazon deal so it was missing a single bolt. The company website said I can order a $2.55 parts kit butthey charge $13.50 for shipping! Ridiculous! I have two of them now. I can't begin to describe how much use they get -- incredible. From the first minute I set them up. Yes, they are a tiny bit wacky in that they sway a little and wobble, and over time, with many leaps on and off, and sword fights on the upper deck, the bottom platform creeps around a bit, and the ceiling part may shift position as well. I think I could have taken a minute to place a rubber mat under the footer to keep it more rooted to one spot but I was SO ANXIOUS to get it installed that I didn't bother. So occasionally I have to stand on a little stepstool and realign top and bottom. I don't think it's possible for it to fall over -- the tension spring at top ensures it stays connected solidly at top, and the metal bolts that hold the sections together are sturdy and long enough to withstand pounding. The wobbling doesn't deter the wild and crazy ones, in fact, it may add to the fun. Kittens and adults alike are insane for this thing. I love that it has a tiny footprint, and that it goes all the way to the ceiling. It adds a nice dimension to the room and it's much more streamlined in appearance than other styles of cat tree. The price is SO GOOD that I can afford to have multiples and it takes up so little space that I can consider installing in out-of-the-way spaces. I'm definitely getting another one. The carpeting isn't all that high-quality, doesn't have a whole lot of "tooth" to it, but it doesn't seem to matter. They are constantly stretching up and clawing at it. The carpeting is starting to split open just at the seams on the older one. Easily re-gluable. I suppose if I got ambitious I could even wrap a section with rope, but I don't have much DIY time with multiple housecats and foster cats. One thing I know for sure is that cats are always looking for the next thing, and if we don't give them plenty of places to hang out and expend energy, they will take it out on us in other ways! ... show more

The thing about reviews is, they typically are from our initial impressions about an item, the excitement of something new. This review is one of those but, I don't write reviews unless I believe in a product and even then I wait for a couple months to see if the quality is still good but, in this case, I'm very pleased. I've purchased a couple of this style of cat climbing post over the past few years from other brands and, they didn't last or were cheaply manufactured. The first thing I noticed about this climbing post is how thick the platforms are, the size of the platforms and how well attached the felt type carpeting is. It was easy to assemble, everything I needed was included and it was very simple to assemble. There are 2 reasons why I'm giving a good initial review, 1. I bought this for a very cheap price. 2. It is extremely stable and well made (considered it's materials and price point) Of all the different brands of this exact style of cat post, I would favorably recommend this one over any others on Amazon. Both my cats, one is 6lbs and the other is 12lbs, climb up on this and love sitting comfortably to look out the window. ... show more
