We've got a 50-lb border collie. He's normally docile. Never had a problem with a wire crate. Thought this one would look nicer in our living room, doubling as an end-table. Um...and it did. For about 4 hours. When we arrived home after our first time leaving him in the wood crate, we came home to discover he'd eaten a portion of the door. He ate the door. This piece is made with woods native to wherever in Indonesia that it's made. Possibly banana wood. Who knew our dog liked bananas? Or would go bananas and try to eat, claw and scratch his way out of the crate whilst we were gone? Frustrating. And he did enough damage that it shows. A lot, actually. It will require the proverbial can of quarter-inch putty to fix what he hath wrought. Stain and varnish, too. Oh, joy. Our solution? Put his original wire crate INSIDE the wood crate. Now we have the best of both worlds - a (mostly) attractive-looking end table (that will be fine, once we get the damage fixed) and an internal wire structure that prevents further damage. If you follow our path of a crate-within-a-crate, be aware that, for ours, at least, the two doors hinged on opposite sides. I had to disassemble the wooden one and drill some extra holes to rehang the door on the opposite side. Not difficult, but only if you know your way around power tools. Still, it's a nice looking table. Just wish we'd thought of putting the old crate inside the new one, before our dog went all Euell Gibbons on the door. ... show more

I'm giving this crate 5 stars with a caveat... this is not the crate you want for puppies, chewers or escape artists. The crate is gorgeous and well built. It's a handsome end table. My 10 month old 40 lb puppy loves it... a bit too much. The soft wood bars are very chewable. She's mostly just gnawed on them, but recently made it all the way through one bar in front. Escape is clearly not her intention or she would have easily made a jail break a long time ago. She's also chewed a hole through the bottom. It gets progressively bigger each day. I'm going to need to replace the crate with something more fit for a puppy who likes to chew in the next month or so and it makes me sad, because it is a very pretty crate. I may eventually buy another one of these, but not until the pup is older and out of the chewing stage. ... show more

We purchased two of these for our grown Bassett hounds. They are beautiful, well made, and our dogs love them. We are currently using them as crates for our dogs to sleep in and end tables in our living room.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product. Easy assembly. Time will tell if the door hardware will last but for now is ok. The people that left bad reviews were mostly fbecause the dogs chewed them up (not the manufacture fault) I would recommend this. Our dog is a German shorthair

As good as the product is, I can’t give 5 or even 4 stars when the item received isn’t as described and/or pictured. What I received WAS NOT a walnut finish. It’s a VERY cherrywood like finish. See photos of actual pro it compared with other ACTUAL walnut furniture in my home. It’s not even close. Again... it’s sturdy, well packaged, and arrived (unlike most Amazon product) early. However if you need to match your existing furniture? It’s not gonna happen. ... show more

The crate wobbles straight away. Even with every thing tightened down it still feels weak. The wood is very thin and brittle. the paint or stain just sort of falls off. Finally the door just broke. It was only held together with tiny wooden dowels so I am not surprised. Just not a quality product.
