This is the best gadget decision I've made in a long time. I have a 2014 Ford Flex. It has the premium audio system that was offered at the time, but the car media system is very dated and cumbersome. I have wanted to upgrade to something with Android Auto and Car Play for a long time, but was concerned about the functionality of the climate control and other features that are tied into the car. This was cost effective and works great. The screen is vibrant and responds quickly. I was worried about the sound coming through the FM transmitter because I have tried that with the cigarette lighter transmitters before and I never liked the sound. This sounds great. I use and Android and have used the wired version of Android A, and it has connected flawlessly. I have also used an Iphone to connect to the wired and wireless Car Play and again no problems connecting. It looks good too. I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more

The Carpuride is a great addition to any if you're wanting android auto or apple CarPlay. The screen is nice, bright, and clear and very easy to navigate. The touch screen is also very responsive. I haven't hooked up the factory rear camera to it so I don't have any input on that. Likes and dislikes 1) Airplay is awesome...when it works. I would love a product that just connected to my phone and I can airplay to it seamlessly with no issues. With this product, you have the option to do it wired or wireless. Wired seems to work best but wireless had some issues. If doing it wireless, you have to disconnect the bluetooth (or maybe the wifi) to use it but even then, connectivity was hit or miss. You also have to leave the phone on to airplay with the wireless option. This is obviously not great as it kills your phone battery. 2) WIRES! I put this device in a Toyota Sienna on the dash just above the stereo. There's not a great way to hide the wires and because of that it looks very cluttered and unclean. The wires are long enough, though, that if you wanted to run the wires under the dash/stereo unit, you could. However, for my use and purpose that was more work than I was looking to do. So YES, there IS a way to make a clean install if you want to spend the amount of time doing so, but out of the box straight into your car, be prepared for a wiry mess. 3) I almost prefer the audio connect to be straight to the van rather than the Carpuride unit. If connecting to the Carpuride unit for audio, you'll need to use the supplied aux, or 1/8", cable to connect from the unit to the stereo...adding another wire! However, I found there to be some slight audio loss connected this way rather than just to the OEM stereo. This isn't a big deal if you're listening to natively loud music, but when listening to classical/jazz music, or even podcasts and audiobooks, the sound loss is noticeable. Other than that, the issues I find with the Carpuride head unit does not deter me from using the product. I could definitely spend more time making the install cleaner; but, again, I don't really have the time to do so. There are some little things to change that would make this even better, but as is, you can't go wrong with adding android auto and apple CarPlay without removing/replacing the car stereo. I have been looking for CarPlay solutions for our 2013 and 2009 Toyota Priuses for years. This 2023 model is an easy solution to adding CarPlay and does a better job of mating than earlier versions (per other user reviews). It took a few tries and re-reading the instructions to get it set up correctly, but it wasn't that hard and works just like a factory installed CarPlay. I am using an Apple iPhone 12 Pro, and my 2013 Prius has Bluetooth, but I use the Phone's Bluetooth to connect via Bluetooth to the Carpuride device. I then used a phone cable to get sound from the Carpuride into my car's audio system. There were a few other settings that I had to adjust (screen brightness, turning off the internal Carpuride speaker), but it now works flawlessly. One point at least on my iPhone (iOS 16.6) the default setting for CarPlay is OFF (haven't used CarPlay in a year; it used to be default on). Once I turned this off, all of the functions worked, and all of the apps that support CarPlay came up on the screen (Audible, MLB, Sirius XM, etc). The Phone still works for phone calls over the car's bluetooth mic/speaker, but you can place calls from the Carpuride screen, or use Siri for hands-free. I really like that it reads the text messages and you can respond to the text via voice command. On the 2009 Prius we used a Lightning to USB input cable to connect to Carpuride. Carpuride comes with two mounts, the picture shows the one I chose for my 2013 Prius. For my 2009 Prius we already use a CD-Mount and I purchased one on Amazon for that car. I use it with wireless CarPlay with an iPhone - it means I can rent a vehicle and not have to rent a GPS unit or fight with the vehicle's built in system.. Wireless CarPlay uses bluetooth to setup the link to the phone, then switches to wifi. However the bluetooth is not released, eg for connecting to the car sound or to bluetooth earphones while using CarPlay. A unit would need two bluetooth devices to support both at once - however Bluetooth transmitters are readily available and moderately priced and work well with this unit. I purchased this unit for travel rentals, adding a 3.5mm stereo cable to connect to Aux and a 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter. It has speakers built in, so on first picking up the vehicle I can use the built in speakers, then, when I have time to investigate the car sound, connect via cable to Aux input, or via Bluetooth transmitter, if car system supports being speakers, or to a Bluetooth earphone. The display brightness is controllable by exiting CarPlay to the unit's menu to select the brightness there, which is seems not ambient sensitive, hence the 4 stars. The display dims well for night driving and is plenty bright enough for daytime in sunshine. I have not tested the Android functionality. Overall it seems well built and performs solidly to the manufacturers specifications. ... show more
