  • Great product
Size: 20 CUBIC FEET
I was able to pack a lot in this contraption. I fit two carry on suit cases and 2 kids suit cases, along with a backpack and a duffle bag and still had room for so much more! It's very simple to strap on to the car and remove. It definitely felt safe when traveling on the highway. During my drive I experienced high winds and rain, and everything remained dry and in place. My only complaint is that it is impossible to fit back into the bag it comes in. ... show more

  • I'm Very Happy!!!
Size: 15 CUBIC FEET
After reading reviews, I rolled the dice and bought a 15 Sq ft bag. I have a Honda Accord 4 dr (No Rack) and used the bag for a camping trip. I'm Very Happy with it!!! 500 miles in central California heat (Ca I 5 (eye 5) South), through Pacheco Pass with Wind Gust Warnings, and coastal fog at an average 70 mph, I had No Problems and my bag came back in Perfect condition! (I drove a bit slower than normal because I didn't know how the bag would do.) This bag is what it is! Between it being on sale, an Amazon coupon and Prime benefits, I got it for around $50! I don't expect it to compare to expensive bags! But, here's what I did to secure it and get the most from a small investment... Because of reviews of people sharing their experiences, I bought cheap Harbor Freight tie downs and wrapped those around the bag and through the doors (the frame of the car) to take the pressure off the bag straps and the yellow strap down areas of the bag. I put the harbor freight tie down S hooks and ratchet thing inside the car. Closed the doors with all extra straps inside. It took an extra $7 and 10 minutes to really secure the bag to the frame of the car. For vehicles with a rack the bag comes with 8 straps to secure to the rack. No rack, the bag comes with 4 questionable straps. Buying extra tie downs make sense! It's EASY to attach. I'm a 60 yr old grandma and installed it easily. My 12 yr old grandson packed it on our return trip. If we can do it, so can you! We easily stored 6 king size sleeping bags, extra blankets and my duffle bag. I still had some room in the bag, but was going easy on it's maiden voyage. The bag has big, sturdy, stiff flaps that velcro over the zipper for protection. And, the zipper was stiff because it's new. All features I appreciate! I didn't experience rain, but would imagine there would be no problem because of the rubbery canvas. My pics were taken when I got home. 500 miles completed. You can see how I tucked the extra strap into the door frame. The bag's metal hooks that attach under the window trim were in perfect condition. Again, the straps I added took most pressure off the bag and straps, and made a huge difference! If you look at other reviews, the people smiling and happy have added extra straps and haven't over-stuffed the bag! I'm Very Happy with my bag and Totally Recommend It! ... show more

  • Great for bugging out!
Size: 15 CUBIC FEET
My first impressions were petty good, the material is a good durable material one would expect to find on a product geared to deal with winter temperatures and weather as well as warmer climates. The zippers can be a little bit of a pain on the super cold days but it's the exact opposite on a hot day. The zippers are protected by a lip that has a secondary velcro method of securing them so they don't blow open in the wind and collect debris. I have it mounted atop my 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee and while they provide a mat to protect the roof of your whip I had a hard time utilizing it with the factory crossbars so I just left it in the bag and stowed it away in the jeep. The mounting straps are pretty decent, they give you 2 different types depending on whether or not you have a crossbar system or just a nekkid roof. I will say that the bag sags a little with crossbars and could potentially wear one's paint off if not secured tightly. Initially I had been waiting on a planned trip to test this bag out but it was postponed due to the fires in Northern CA, but, to my luck this bag proved useful in packing even more sentimental items in the case that we had to evacuate. I managed to fit quite a bit of gear in it and still had plenty of room! A pro tip here is to take your time packing the bag so that you fill it from the bottom up to keep it's form and shape for easy securing. When not entirely full it can be a little more difficult to finalize the securing method while maintaining it's good looks. I kept it up top of the jeep for a couple weeks and aside from being dusty and a little sap on it the pressure washer cleaned it right up! All in all would I buy this bag if I had an absolute need for one, most likely, it's price point and flexibility to fit a range of gear as well as swap over to another vehicle is awesome! I can't say for a fact if it'll be a permanent staple atop the jeep for trips as I'm planning to either build a rack or put an RTT up there but until then anytime I need some extra space the bag will definitely be coming with me! P.S. Tool Guards also sells some other great products in their lineup, feel free to go check them out! ... show more
