Running the wires for the backup camera into the trunk lid was a pain. But other than that, it was really quite easy to install in our 2010 Jetta. I had grind the inside corners down a tiny bit so it fit in the dash. But it was easy. The only other oddity is that it connects to the home wifi as a different device, every time. So much disappointment with this unit. But I will start off with the good. good; Install is super easy, and the screen looks super nice when everything is turned off. the bad; the mirrorlink just plain WOULD NOT WORK! there is no screen brightness setting and it does not dim when headlamps are turned on even though the unit knows headlights are on. this makes it SUPER BRIGHT AT NIGHT TIME. the display sits back pretty far from the glass and makes it look cheesy overall. the speed display is in km/h and there is no way to change it to MPH. by far the worst part of it all though, I drove for 30 minutes with bluetooth playing music and google maps up, after 30 minutes of running both the UNIT JUST SHUT OFF!!!! no warning no nothing ABSOLUTELTY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE ... show more

First, they didn’t mention that this won’t work with the stock back up camera. (VW Golf MK6) The installation was easy. But the touch screen stopped working after a month of rare use. (Due to the pandemic, I think I drove less than 10 times after the installation) Of course I reset the device multiple times. (When I contacted the seller, they asked me to reset, but it didn’t help) It would be great to have this but just not reliable. [updated] The seller did replaced the defective one and the new one is working fine so far. If this doesn't break within 4~5 years, i think it's a great deal. Also i found a way to make the stock back up camera to work with this and the back up screen works great. Only draw back is the bluetooth connectivity. This device has its own bluetooth set up but it keeps losing the connection while playing music. And the microphone from the device isn't great. i wish this device can use the stock bluetooth input than i would give 5 stars. Overall i think it's great for the price. ... show more

you must purchase the dongle separate for the carplay functionality if you have an iphone 7 or above i believe ... i had best but install it, which i purchased the total tech program for 199$/year (i am upgrading all of my cars to touch screen mac/back up cameras) and the best buy package covers the installations on all of that. even if i wanted to get steering wheel controls put in! the radio was a master fit for my VW. i did purchase the car launcher app to modify the km/hour and Celsius but this app can be used on any android auto and i have used the same one for my other cars i have updated. carplay works seemlessly if you follow the steps. it was a great purchase and has me wanting more! ie- steering wheel controls. ... show more

it was easy to install, I didn't realize you had to plug the wires of the car info box into the headunit itself at first..... but once I realized they had a spot on the back of the radio all worked well.... had to trim a bit of the dash face plate but I just cut the whole middle section out and now everything fits fine. ... show more

Do not buy. The Bluetooth connection is garbage. It statics and doesn’t stay connected. Steering wheel controls is a lie. Mine never worked once installed. Buy a better quality stereo unit. I sent mine back. It is garbage and usually don’t buy this cheap. This is why.

Screen mirror sometimes doesn’t work, it’s also the worst quality of SM. Once I got a bug when music didn’t play. Audio quality is also bad. Doesn’t start when you turn on car, same when you turn it off. The only one good think: I like camera lines which can move with the steering wheel. Nothing more ... show more

I have a 2015 VW Passat Wolfsburgs Edition and it fit into my console perfectly. Down side is if you live in an area that uses imperial you are out of luck with this product. It only displays in metric, not a huge deal for me but I would love an update to the system to include it. It connected to my phone pretty easily and hasn’t given me any trouble since I installed it about a week ago. Touch screen is standard for a value tablet but isn’t laggy. Do not connect the canbus if you want your car battery to live. Phone calls connected via Bluetooth could use some work. Callers on the other end tend to not be able to hear what you are saying very well due to poor mic quality. Overall, 3 star product and is a good replacement for the standard radio that comes stock. ... show more
