    • 900 MILES WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM!

The bag worked flawlessly for us in a very long day where we drove 900 miles. I would recommend rolling up the excess straps when you are done loading and taping them down to the cinched portion of the straps, so they don't flap in the wind. I could see that leading to damage. My only complaints, really, would be 1) that the instruction sheet was poorly done and 2) I wasn't too sure how to secure the 7th and 8th straps. And 3) the cargo bag and its carrying bag are a similar situation to snow chains and their carrying case...once removed, it isn't going back in. You will probably get some noises from the straps, even taped down. Double-check that they are still secure, but you should recheck your load every time you stop, anyway. No rain on our trip, so I can't rate water resistance. It held up to persistent gusts of wind reaching 50+ MPH, though. ... show more

    • Don't forget to zip it!
Overall, I am satisfied with this bag's performance on a recent ~1000 mile move across the country. The included instructions are woefully inadequate to the point of being useless, at least if you lack a rack. Watch some videos and read up on it online first. Once you understand it's not too bad, if a bit time consuming, to take it on/off. May be much easier with a rack/rails. Bring extra straps that you can use to cinch it down so it doesn't flap in the wind -- not dangerous, but distracting and can hide the sound of real problems. USE A CHECKLIST! We forgot to zip it once and lost all our bags after half an hour or so at 70 MPH. Can't blame the bag for that one of course. ALWAYS zip it, pat the skirt down, velcro the flap, check both straps through the body and all four clips before every drive. After clipping the four clips, you can wrap the extra around and tuck it in to keep it from making disconcerting noises in the wind. Say goodbye to your mileage. Don't put heavy stuff up there -- this is IDEAL for sleeping bags, camping gear, even suitcases that aren't too full. You're going to love it for that. Save trunk space for your cinder blocks and other heavy items. ... show more

Currently using this as of right now while on a trip. Driving from Illinois to the panhandle and got caught in light rain for a few hours. I just knew the whole time this thing would leak. Sure enough, got to the hotel only to find out clothes were wet. Oh boy. They weren't soaked, but were wet. Ofcourse, water beating off this thing at 85mph, what more could you expect? The obvious entry point was the zipper. I would recommend putting suitcases in large trashbags ... show more

    • Caused thousands of dollars in damages to my vehicle

Horrendous. Once we figured out how to secure this bag to our car, the problems immediately started. This is NOT waterproof! If you take nothing else from my review, please understand that! We had to drive through a couple of hours of on and off rain, and our items inside the bag were damp when we stopped to check on them. We ensured everything was tightly closed and secure, so that’s not the reason the items got wet. What’s worse is that this product allowed small amounts of rain INTO the car! There are stains on the inside part of the roof of my car now, as well as scratches on the doors. This caused thousands of dollars in damages. I was counting on this thing (based on its good reviews) to keep my musical instruments secure on a 1,500+ mile road trip. Had I not thoroughly wrapped and packed my instruments before placing them in this cargo bag, they would’ve been ruined, too. It’s simply not worth the risk. I would advise people to seek a much better alternative to protect your belongings. ... show more

This product IS NOT WATERPROOF! We installed properly and had the zipper properly zipped and covered and the carrier was full of water after a 11 hour drive with about 6 hrs of a light to medium rain on and off. So disappointing and aggravating especially since we are on a weeks vacation and will still have to use it because we cannot fit everything with everyone inside the vehicle. The positive thing about this carrier is the size and price. It is very large and holds a lot so if you would put things in totes and garbage bags to keep dry it would be fine except for the fact the inside of the carrier will still be sitting full of water. ... show more

    • Design flaws plague what could have been a good roof bag

I was very hopeful that this bag was going to be great when it arrived. The quick release straps make it easier to install than the older Fox brand one I had and it's got a more aerodynamic shape so I guess it might help with some gas mileage. That's pretty much where the positives end. This bag is NOT, I repeat NOT weather proof. Rain of any kind, from a drizzle to a downpour will get through this bag and soak your bags inside. The main reason for this seems to be a low quality untapped zipper. There's a weather strip that covers the zipper, but it immediately flips up once the vehicle hits anything even remotely like highway speed, exposing the untaped zipper which allows water to get in. In fairness, the bag is big, I fit 5 suitcases and 3 folding beach chairs in there with no issue. Would be ok if you were 100% certain of good weather the whole way. Bought this for a move it rained on the way, thought it would be fine. "Waterproof" was how it was advertised. Until I opened the topper today and the first thing I noticed was water where the seam from the zipper was. Once I got it open I was welcomed by a hugh wave of mold and mildew. I specifically looked for a waterproof topper and now because of the false advertising of your product I have hundreds of dollars of clothes stained and more than likely destroyed. But because it was after the return window that I used it I cant even get a refund to cover a fraction of my entire family losing all the clothes we own.EDIT: I have given you plenty of time to respond I guess I will be moving forward with my lawyer. ... show more
