A wonderful buy! Would suggest to any photographer! Really took me to the next level! The only thing is there isn’t an in-body stabilizer.

  • My favorite camera to date!
Style: Body Only Set: Base
The media could not be loaded. I love this camera, but you have to realize what the camera is made for. It is Canon's entry level mirrorless camera and it is perfect for what it does, but the comment that it is a "picture of people" camera undersells it. Here is why 1. I agree it is not an action camera if you are a spray and pray shooter or the event you are shooting requires quick continuous shooting, but it shoots 3 FPS and I have no problem capturing great action shots with the camera. In fact I prefer the slower shutter rate even on my 7DII because the autofocus is better at keeping up with the Sutter rate then. The camera can shoot at 1/4000th of a second so it has no problem freezing action. You can easily capture football, baseball, basketball, race cars....really anything. Bonus also the camera is very good in low light and can help with indoor sports. 2. Not a cinema camera, agree that it is not a red or anything, but the firmware has been updated to shoot 4K at 24FPS, so that is cinema quality. Now depending on the lens that you pair will give you varying results. I shoot video at 1080p or 4k and use the 24-70 2.8 and it is as good as a lot of other cameras out there. For vlogging I will admit that the eye tracking is not the best and sometimes it will lose focus, but it is getting better with the firmware. (NOTE: when shooting in 4k the camera will crop the sensor giving you a much smaller FOV, but I have found that there is little quality difference in most cases between 4k and 1080p after editing. And if you are uploading to YouTube you will have a hard time telling which is which cause YouTube rarely plays over 720p) If you remember what you are using the camera for it is more than fine. Yes the sensor is bigger on the R, yes the R is weather sealed (but canon also stated that the RP is weather sealed to the same level as the 6DII) and yes the R can shoot at a faster FPS, but I have had no problem with any of these. I have blown pictures up to 12x18 consistently and never can I find an issue with the sensor size, I live in Alaska and have shot in the snow and cold (teens and below) and never had an issue with the weather sealing, and I have photographed my dog running and the camera is quick enough to capture accurate and sharp photos (again I pair it with an RF lens and I believe that is faster focusing than my EF lenses I have used). If you want to get into the mirrorless world it is a great camera and you are going to have a hard time finding fault with it. And you have to remember that most times that people complain about the picture quality odds are they put a cheap lens on the camera. If you put a cheap lens on the most expensive camera out there the camera will under perform, the glass is way more important than the camera. And if you don't believe that this camera can take good photos, these photos are some examples. ... show more
