  • So easy to clean!
I was tired of not using the BBQ, out of dread of cleaning it. Saw this on Amazon. Spent WAY too much time googling, checking YouTube reviews, comparing it to similar brands and emailing the company lots of questions. I really wasn't sure about ordering such a huge item online? But, I called every local store, and they only had the 4 burner. We have a large family, and decided the big one (6 burner) was what we needed. The seller was very responsive when emailed, so we went for it! Shipped fast, and was easy to put together. It is an absolute joy to use. Love that we can make tortillas, vegetables, and meat at the same time! A dozen eggs, several pancakes and sausages for breakfast works nicely as well :) We don't hesitate to use it and use it almost daily. Love the side tables that easily fold up and down. It is sturdy, heavy duty and each burner easily lights when you turn the knobs. The drain cup is made of metal and works not only for grease, but also for soapy water when I clean it. I have ordered a stainless cover from Etsy, and a cloth cover from the seller. The stainless cover will protect the food when it's finished cooking and keep bugs and dust off the oily grill, when not in use. The fabric cover will keep the rain off. Neither the stainless cover nor the fabric cover were available on Amazon for the 6 burner size. Amazon does sell them for the 4 burner size, so I assume they will be available on Amazon in the near future? My husband loves it and keeps taking pictures of the food he cooks, lol. The kids love helping cook on it too. Only thing I watch closely is the front edge of the griddle gets hot, and a toddler could reach up and grab at it to try and see up over the edge. But I suppose that is something to watch for with any stove/BBQ/griddle. It's just that, cast iron stays hot for quite awhile, so even when the cooking is finished, you have to keep little ones back. Incredible addition to the backyard. Really glad we went with the bigger sized one. So pleased :) ... show more

  • It's a beast!
I love this griddle! You can cook for a large amount of guests. Very versatile for making just about anything. My buddy got one of those other brand 4 burner and this one blows that away. I'm glad I spent the extra money and got excellent quality that's so easy to use and clean. I also got the cover and the lid. It's exactly what I wanted. ... show more

  • Forget Blackstone once you go Camp Chef you'll never go back
The carbon steel surface of the Blackstone is ok but nowhere near as nice as the seasoned cast iron of the Camp Chef. I also like the mechanical ignition lighters on each of the burner knobs that are reliable and generally light the first click every time. The design of the box keeps the burners from being affected by wind like others so I don't have any trouble getting and keeping the griddle hot on windy days. I have other sized Camp Chef griddles too but the 900 in particular is great for cooking a huge number of frozen burgers. Bought this one for cooking several cases of burgers during high school football games for the concession stand. Cooking large numbers of burgers is pretty tough on a regular grill because of all the grease fire issues. The old event grill was constantly flaring up and needing repairs because of all the grease issues. I bought a piece of high temp. silicone hose, a metal hose clamp, and a metal lard bucket to collect all the grease that drains off the griddle top when cooking hundreds of burgers at a time. Now it's easier to cook an entire griddle top of burgers at a time without burning any and keeping them all nice and juicy. When using the old event grill the whole grill top couldn't be used because burgers would have to be constantly shifted away from flare up areas. My only negative is that while the company is based in the USA the products are produced in China. ... show more

  • Blackstone Who? Camp Chef Is The Rolls-Royce Of Flat Top Griddles!!!
Yes, I know I'm not being fair by comparing the old 36" Blackstone flat top griddle to the BEAST that is the Camp Chef FTG900 flat top griddle, but size is not the only thing to take into consideration when purchasing an outdoor griddle. Is it nice to have extra real estate to cook on? ABSOLUTELY! This is one of the main reasons why I chose the FTG900 over the FTG600, even though the FTG600 includes the grilling/griddling option. If you absolutely need to have both, then get the FTG600 because the grilling option is not available on the FTG900. Okay, now let's talk Blackstone vs. Camp Chef! If you're one of those people who arbitrarily sides with the Blackstone griddle any time you see a Blackstone vs. Camp Chef debate on the internet, then only two things can be going through your mind: 1. You've literally never seen or cooked on a Camp Chef griddle. 2. See #1. Yes, folks, the difference is that blatant. Cooking Surface - The Blackstone is 7 gauge cold rolled steel and so is the Camp Chef, but the Camp Chef's cooking surface comes pre-seasoned. It's a big time saver and it's a step that Blackstone skipped. The Camp Chef's cooking surface also has height adjustment screws underneath on one end so that you can fine-tune the cooking surface and the cart casters to accommodate for uneven flooring. This way, your grease can properly make its way into the catch can. This micro leveling adjustment is just one more detail that Blackstone omitted. Cooking Surface Heat Diffuser - Camp Chef has one. Blackstone doesn't. Nobody mentions this, but it's a very big deal! If you look underneath the Camp Chef's cooking surface, there's a huge heat diffusion plate that helps to evenly distribute the heat from the burners throughout the cooking surface. The multiple attachment points of this heat diffusion plate also keep your cooking surface free from warping. With Blackstone, you simply don't get this. They crudely weld a couple of angle irons onto the bottom of their cooking surface. Yes, the Blackstone warps when high heat is applied. Grease Management System - With the first generation of grease management system on the Blackstone, they failed miserably. Grease would run down the leg of the griddle because of the poor design between the cooking surface and the catch can. Unlucky consumers, myself included, resorted to rigging up different methods to try to fix this glaring problem. How did they finally fix this issue, you ask? They introduced the second version of their grease management system. Now, it sends everything to the center of the REAR of the cooking surface! Seriously?!?! The engineers decided to put it in a less accessible area, which is a bad idea if your unit is up against a wall, like mine is. Even worse, if it's out in the middle of your patio and one of the kids decides to walk behind the griddle to see what daddy is cooking, you can tell them that you're cooking a recipe for disaster! Hot liquids and children do not mix. Camp Chef's grease management system works like it's supposed to, doesn't run down the leg of the griddle and the grease cup is large and easily removable, cleanable and replaceable. It's not rocket science, but they got it right the first time around! Burner BTUs - Blackstone boasts having 15,000 BTU burners, while the Camp Chef griddles have 12,000 BTU burners. What is the difference? Their burners cost you more in propane to accomplish the same task - that is the difference! When you have a well-engineered cooking surface which properly and evenly transfers heat from the burners, through the heat diffusion plate and onto the cooking surface, efficiency increases and fuel consumption, inversely, decreases. Burner Ignitors - With the Camp Chef, each burner has its own igniter. Since the FTG900 comes with six burners, it's nice to know that I can turn on my two center burners and use the remaining two sides of my cooking surface as huge warming areas. With the Blackstone, you get one largely unreliable, battery-operated igniter on one end of the griddle. This means you must start on one end, light the first burner and then work your way to the other end. The burners are NOT independent, as they are with the Camp Chef griddles. Burner Wind Deflection - With the Camp Chef griddles, the cooking surface is beautifully nestled into the stainless steel burner box. There is no issue of loss of heat when cooking in windy conditions. With the Blackstone, there's a relatively large gap between the cooking surface and the burner box. Oh, and you only get a stainless steel burner box on the Blackstone if you purchase their stainless steel model. I can go on and on and mention things like two shelves on the Camp Chef cart and only one shelf on the Blackstone cart or proper bracing on the Camp Chef cart and a Jell-O-like wiggle on the Blackstone cart, but the only way you're going to really tell the difference between the two is to give away your Blackstone, get over your buyer's remorse and go out and get yourself a Camp Chef flat top griddle!!! I've done all the homework for you, folks, so you can thank me later by inviting me to dinner... ;-) ... show more
