  • Harder to install, but worth it
Size: 150 CFM
This fan was more difficult to install in an existing home than stated. We ended up hiring an electrician to crawl in the attic as that was the only way to attach the fan to the structure of the house. But now that it's installed, it's working great. We had the electrician install a timer switch too so that it can run for up to an hour and shut itself off. These fans can wear out when run continuously, which was the problem we had with our last one. But this one is much quieter and moves twice the amount of air ... show more

  • Wow, is it QUIET!!
Size: 150 CFM
I really have to check closely to see that it is running (but at 150 CFM, you an feel the air flowing into the grill) because it really is that quiet! Excellent air flow too. It IS a large unit - be aware of this fact before you buy it, and make sure you have space. It nicely disassembles for installation (the nozzle & electrical connection come off with three easy-access screws & a plug). It was a quick installation for my application. My only slight complaint is that the unit I got has a very slight imbalance in the squirrel cage fan, which makes the duct that the fan feeds vibrate and squeak at times. ... show more

  • Bath fan
Size: 150 CFM
If you ceiling is thicker then 1/2 this installation is tuff you will need to remove the blower side of the fan to put it through the hole . Half way up you have to install it or you won't be able to screw it back up once it's on the attic. Other than that you'll need a 4 " vent . Has lots of powerand works fine but I had a rough time installing it . Took me more than two hours should have been a lees than one hour job that's why I gave a 4 star make the exhaust side easier to remove. Or just put sit unit on the ceiling in attac then won't have to put the unit through th hole . No ody is perfect so 4 star. It's not too loud for a big fan . It's newso it's been a week since installed so far it working good . ... show more

  • Difficult to install, but worth it
Size: 150 CFM
Like others mentioned, it is very difficult to install. I ended up taking the protruding side off the box then sliding it up into the attic, followed by the remaining box. I was able to do this without help by using a long piece of wood to hold the box up while I mounted it in the attic. The electrical box required a drill to knock-out a hole and was a little bit small for connecting two strands of wires to the fan wiring but I was able to make it work. It runs great! A little louder than I was expecting but I can still have a conversation while it is running! It sucks up all the shower steam from a 12'x12' room when the shower is running!!! Holy steam! I also hooked it up to a 'dryer vent' kit to the outside of my house. Even though the install was difficult, I think it is worth it. ... show more

  • I could give it no stars I would
Size: 150 CFM
We had a promising product buy is a complete failure. The motor has gone bad and there is continuity testing to prove it. When the fan did come on originally, it was loud and didn't move the kind of air that I thought it should. Now less than 30 days from being installed the motor has gone out. It was wired to the specs given. I am a local contractor and order from Amazon all the time but this product is a complete waste of time. Awful that I spend this kind of money for less than 30 days of use and now it's not eligible for a return. hmmmmm they must have known it was crap ... show more

  • Novice handymen/women be warned: This is not an easy install.
Size: 150 CFM
The fan is "simple" enough to use, but it is not very friendly to install in already exisiting drywall. Installed in an a second-floor bathroom with AMPLE attic access, a ready supply of tools, and this was still a couple hours of work. To copy the layout of previous reviews I'll make a pros / cons list with descriptions to describe my experience. Pros: 1) Reasonably low cost 2) Moves a LOT more air than the (too small) 50CFM fan it replaced; relatively quiet operating mode* (more on this, see "Cons"). 3) Came with lots of parts -none of which were helpful for my case 4) Air damper might help minor energy loss thru duct when not in use? Con: 1) MUCH more complicated to install than I imagined. Ended up having to remove the entire duct/power "plate" in order to fit it thru the hole, then use the plate as a kind of tray to wedge it through the hole. Then, reassemble behind the drywall. Fairly exciting on top of a ladder. 2) Had to build 2x4 frame around it to keep it from loudly vibrating the drywall. 3) The knockouts to run power into the unit were not scored enough to remove, had to drill it to get power cable into the unit. 4) The grate/screen. Absolutely no reason for the spring-arm faster choice. NOT a tight fit, rattles. Took forever to manuever into place. Again, not fun on a ladder. 5) Overall quality. I know it was "only" $100, but it sure doens't feel anywhere near it. Thin, chinsy metal construction, poor quality plastic turbine fan cylinder seems to be out of balance, hence the frame needed to prevent it from rattling. All said, I'd happily spend more for a product that was better quality and especially if were easier to install. Bottom line: Unless it's going in new construction, or you have a LOT of access behind/above the space where this will be installed AND you don't mind almost certainly having to modify things to make this work, I'd avoid. I have two to replace, and will NOT be doing this again. There are better solutions at your local home center box stores that can move this much air and not take half a day to install. ... show more
