  • May just be a bad setup...
I've been getting used to this for ~ a month and just starting to play it with a band. Love the tone and ease of setup/transport. It seems to have the proper setup (that mmmmwwwwwaaaahhhh) for most of the fingerboard. However I've just noticed on the G (Ab, A, Bb) and D (Eb), there is a tinny sound. Feels like a high spot on the fingerboard and/or the nut slotted too deep. Have not yet taken to local shop to check the setup and I've not yet fussed with the truss rod. 98% super pleased... ... show more

  • Upright bass guitar
The main thing to remember about instruments like this is that it's not a direct replacement/comparison to a double bass. This is basically a bass guitar in an upright position. I love it, but it's a world of difference from the double bass I played in high school jazz band and orchestra. Also, it could be my inability, but slapping this bass is extremely difficult. Luckily you won't *need* to slap an electric upright, and other techniques can deliver the same/similar attack and tone as it is picked up by the piezo. ... show more

I absolutely LOVE THIS BASS!!! I thought I would have to use an outboard preamp on this thing, but the tone is so thick and organic if you closed your eyes and listened, you almost couldn't tell the difference between this and the tone of an actual double bass!!! Add to the mix the fact that I'm left handed.....but switching the strings around was easier than falling down!! Great bass!!!!!😎 ... show more
