I've owned several Braun electric shavers but never invested in the higher-up models like this one. I finally decided to treat myself, and I'm glad I did. Like any shaver, there is a break-in period, so don't expect the best shave of your life the first couple times you use this, but after a week of use, my face got used to it and now it provides the closest, most comfortable shave I've ever experienced with an electric. I don't even need to use any pre-shave products. I can hop out of the shower, dry off my face and shave smoothly without any irritation. This is the first Braun unit I've owned where (with a couple exceptions) I get a good shave on a single pass. The exceptions are a couple of stubborn spots around my jaw line, but that's to be expected. It's nice not to have to go over the same areas repeatedly which can lead to irritation. I was especially eager to try a shaver with a cleaning/charging station, and this really contributes to the overall value despite the higher price tag of this model. I will say, the first time I ran the cleaning process, when I removed the shaver from the base an hour later, it was still pretty wet with the solution. However, this seemed to have been a one-time thing, because I've been using the base every two days for the past month or so and it has worked flawlessly every time since. I love the fresh, clean scent the cleaning solution leaves behind, and it also lubricates the foils just enough for a smooth shave without excessive oiliness. I've been removing the shave head, dumping out the excess hair and cleaning the inside of the shaver with a brush as I've read this helps ensure a good, thorough cleaning and prevent hair from building up and clogging the base. I haven't had the opportunity to travel with my new Braun yet, but I think the smart case that charges the shaver is a stroke of genius and I can't wait to try it. I have a business trip coming up in a few weeks so I'll get a chance to bring my new shaver along with me. It'll be great not to need to bring the charging cable, or charge it up before leaving and hope you have enough juice to last you the trip. The case should provide ample power for the four days I'll be on my trip. Overall, if you've been buying the cheaper Braun models or using other inexpensive electric shavers and you're thinking of upgrading, this model is well worth considering. I had almost quit writing reviews. There are so many out now that include videos and even better language than mine probably. Anyway, this Braun series 9 Pro shaver is the absolute best electric I have ever used. This is a shave that is as close to a blade as any electric can ever deliver. I have used Norelco, Remington, and several that were not as well known. This Braun series 9 Pro is better than any electric I have ever tried. I no longer have any razor bumps, no pulled hairs, no skin irritation at all. It's easy to clean and I sure like the Braun cleaning system. It cleans with an antiseptic and it lubricates the shaver as well. This shaver is easy to use and it has a pivoting head that will reach difficult places and can be locked if you prefer. The only thing I don't really like about this unit is the High Price. However, with our inflation and our economy the way it is, I suppose everything has a higher price than I would want. There is one other thing I would mention. The instruction manuals are just a bunch of pictures that aren't real clear, but with a bit of brain work they can be figured out. If you can afford to shell out the dollars for a Braun series 9 Pro. and you feel you deserve the absolute best shave that is possible with an electric razor, Then this razor is for you. From my opinnion this is the best of the best. Highly Recommend ! I had to come back and add this on..... The trimmer seems a bit unhandy and sort of hard to see around. I think I will be able to get used to this in time. I hope so. Another thought I have is when the battery goes bad, how hard will it be to get replaced, and how Expensive and when it reaches the End Of Service can it be re-built, and how Expensive will it be. These are just some after thoughts. If any Braun service people read this, I hope they will address these items. This is an excellent razor...... This electric shaves as smooth and close as any blade thing available, 1 blade, 2 blades, 3 blades or even 5, I was totally blown away by this razor. The shaver part is great, the charger is great. The wet/dry issue is great and cleaning is easy. My issue is it doesnt cut longer hair well so if you dont shave daily you need to use the little flip up piece which sucks. It's like a centimeter long and really doesn't work well. Have to go over an area like a dozen times and I still get a secondary razor out to fix what it missed. In general this is a really good razor but for $200+ they really need to fix that last piece so it cuts the neck and under the jaw better with longer hairs. That part is crap. ... show more
