  • This ain't no modeler amp...t's a digital amp!
Edition: INSTRUMENT
PROS- L O A D E D with features! Supremely versatile! Beautiful fit and finish! Reasonably priced unit for what it does, even "big bang for the buck" status Has definite tube emulation throughout. For sure ain't no sound you CAN'T get with this unit. Every sound in everybody's head is in here (in more ways than not). Ain't no other solid state amps like this anywhere. Nicest part, it don't have a LCD screen to go dead (like most do). Power adjustment control-so you get many amps in one, and you can use any speaker from crapy 50 watt Celestion up to 400 watt PA drivers. May be the KING of solid state amps. CONS- Looks ominous, even scary atop my homemade death cabs! Positive feel knob controls, knobs are small however durable, micro switches a bit delicate- buy the foot controller. Relatively medium weight unit, so don't bang it around, handle with care. Mesmerizingly fun! Causes me to insatiably buy more gear! Has photo-finish "Tolex" over MDF cabinet, looks great if you keep the lights low and don't scratch or mar it! Boss makes nice stuff! Wish they made cars, appliances and clothing too. ... show more

  • Who said a solid state head unit can't compete with a tube amp?
Edition: INSTRUMENT
I replaced a solid state Marshall head unit that had some limited effects with this unit and the difference is incredible. The Marshall head unit made a lot of noise and just never sounded very good. I was going to get a Marshall tube head unit for twice the price but stumbled across this. I am already a big Roland fan having a Roland digital piano so I took a chance. I am currently playing it through a Marshall 4x12 cab, mostly with a Gibson Les Paul Studio, and it sounds amazing. I have 2 Boss Waza 2x12 cabs and the foot switch en route so we shall see how those sound. I have barely scratched the surface on the sounds this amp is capable of producing. The possibilities are almost endless. If I had gone with a tube amp, I would have paid a lot more and still needed to acquire a whole fleet of effects gadgets to produce the same sounds. ... show more

  • Nothing competes at this price point
Edition: INSTRUMENT
This amp punches way way above it’s price range. Just be ready to take your time with it as this amp can produce many many different tones, including reproducing other amps. Out of the box it sounds good, but once connected to Tone Studio it’s when you get the other 80% of this amp’s capability. Are there better amps? Sure, but at three times the cost and they don’t offer the amount of versatility and huge list of included effects. This amp also has a large online community that is extremely helpful and has made available many free sound patches to try out. ... show more

  • Incredible.
Edition: INSTRUMENT
The media could not be loaded. For the money you cannot beat this amp. Lows are absolutley whatever you want. Depth and pressence are easily dialed in. So incredibly versitile you wont believe it. Also buy the waza cab and ga-fc foot switch (the new one) i cannot say enough with how happy i am with this purchase! ... show more

  • Had to return had some issues
Edition: INSTRUMENT
Overall I didn’t feel the amplifier was worth the hype nor the price point. My opinion is that it was lacking although extremely loud and thats just it loud loud. Not what I had hoped for in a Boss created product really. The amplifier was simple to operate once you figured out which knobs and control buttons made the amplifier usable. My biggest thing was it worried me after I had played it once and liked what I heard there wasn’t much hissing like I’ve gotten from any other solid state amplifier. But then after using the second or third time I started noticing the hissing continued to be more annoying and more pronounced so it had gotten louder also. While using the amplifier for my short hour or so the second time turned on I was still fresh and figuring out how to use the amplifier and I wanted to hear a huge difference when I turned on the solo knob…ugh nope it just didn’t make much difference if anything at all in volume exaggeration like a solo switch should be right. I would think a solo switch would make things brighter I’m guessing, like I’ve already stated nope nothing really. The boost did the brightness overdrive etc. On the control knobs the amplifier switching was very easy and the clean was great the brown amplifier worked well but just wasn’t enough for me for the cost I’ve paid I did not like what I heard especially when the hissing began to worsen it made things more undesirable. So I’ve returned the amplifier defective due to solo not working properly and the hissing becoming louder and louder the more I used this amplifier. I also wanted to add to my review here. I have noticed many people asking the difference of the artist amplifier and the 100 watt plain Boss amplifier heads. The amplifiers seemed to be the same at best except for a few extra plug ins on the back side means for recording and adding additional amplifier connections to another amp. Thats the only difference that myself have noticed about the two amps. So if you’re into design or creative output to make your own amplifier sounds this might be a good option for someone. The amplifier has alot of potential just not for myself in this case. Thanks for reading and keep Jamming Rip those guitars Bang your head to metal music And have fun while playing out there Its time for new creative musicians to start a new era Out with the old And into the new ... show more
