  • Very impressed - good bang for buck!
These are some very impressive subs for the price. As I'm sure most of you know, BOSS overrates their RMS ratings on almost everything. I can't say if these are over-rated (they probably are, I honestly don't think they could handle 400w RMS each,) but I CAN tell you that I'm feeding them about 150-200watts RMS each (I have 2) and I'm getting strong, clean sound out of them. They're in a vented truck box and sound great! Especially for the price - quite impressed!! I've only had them about 3 weeks but so far so good! They hit like a quality low to medium power subwoofer. If you fry these by feeding them too much power, don't blame the sub, blame yourself! I was originally powering these with a BOSS AR1500M amp. The amp was just too underpowered - I'd guess it was putting out in the neighborhood of 150-175watts RMS. I stepped up to a BOSS AR2500M (which I'm guessing is putting out somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-400 watts RMS @ 2ohms) and they sound a LOT better. I highly recommend that amp btw - good quality amp, just understand that BOSS ratings are off. If you compare it to a competitors amp in the SAME PRICE RANGE, I can guarantee you the BOSS will out-perform. Do NOT use BOSS's published specs for purposes of comparison. You won't be happy. Take that information to heart about BOSS in general. In my experience with their speakers and amps, the quality itself has been fine, it's the specs that are completely wacko. Tuning of the system must therefore be done with careful caution. At the end of the day, these are an easy 5 star recommendation. If they for some reason go out in the next year, I'll update this review - too early to speak on behalf of lifespan/durability. ... show more

  • Good Value
Style: 1000W 8 inch
I bought this to replace a speaker in an old 1990s subwoofer/ amplifier box. It sounds far better and has more power than the original one that went out. This speaker is in my shop stereo system and sounds great out there. It has plenty bass for the area which is a 30x32 shop with 12 foot ceilings.

  • Sounded Perfect for the price!
I was upgrading the car audio system on a MR2 that I purchased. I wanted to get a cheap, low profile sub for a thin box that would fit neatly behind the seat. This worked perfectly. It sounds great and can hit hard. I would leave 3.5 stars if I could for the one issue I had with the assembling/packaging. When I opened the box, the protective plastic bag was actually under the plastic outer ring were the screws were, and it was stuck there on the glue holding the rubber down. The outer ring screw holes did not match up with the metal inner ring screw holes. After removing the plastic bag, the rubber started to come off the metal, and according to the manual, that would void the warranty. I removed the outer plastic ring almost tearing the rubber and added a little glue to the tiny part of the rubber that was starting to peel off. I am sure what I did would void the warranty and I should have returned it. But it wasn't worth returning for the cheap price. Also, the rubber may have re-glued itself after screwing down the plastic ring to the sub box. So, it may have been fine, I just didn't wanna risk it. Others probably would have this issue, I think I just got a messed up one. Unlike some, I am not an audio pro that has to have products that cost 4 times the price. Overall a great product, but considering the price it was a steal. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn't wanna get ripped off by some of the better known brands. ... show more

  • Best Subwoofer on a budget!
For this price you cant lose. If your looking for some good quality bass in a small area, get this sub. I made a custom box for it using MDF board and titebond wood glue. Screws to hold it all together just predrill your holes if your gonna use screws. The quality of bass sounds completely astounding for paying less than $30. Don't waste your money at car toys or best buy. Using your noggin and carpenting skills you can easily make a better enclosure for this sub than any "expert". This sub fits nicely in an s10 single cab. Update!: I have wanted more bass and got a bigger amp so I needed another sub. I decided to make a dual 10" box and it worked awesome. Usually if I had the volume too high then it would be too much bass. The only thing I wish I did was get the 12" subs instead because like all 10" subs, they can't hit the lows very well. One sub ended up blowing after 5-6 months of beating loud dubstep and metal. Definitely worth it to me unless you wanna drop $2-300 on Memphis subs. ... show more

  • Broken on Arrival
Terribly disappointed... I mean, granted, it's a thirty-dollar subwoofer, but all it is is a thirty-dollar paperweight. When it arrived, the negative terminal push connector was broken off (the packaging was intact with no sign of damage, so it seems like this happened *before* the thing was even packaged) which by itself is like... not a huge thing, really, it's not that big of a deal to solder a new terminal on... It's the principle of the thing. The BIG deal is that the sub itself is locked up... I don't know how they managed this, but the thing doesn't move. You know how normally you can gently push on the center cap to check the movement of the surround? Yeah. It doesn't move. Somehow (I'm assuming) the copper windings are wrapped around the magnet or something... I really don't know. I've never encountered a locked-up subwoofer before, but I have now. I suppose it's possible that it'd free itself if I hooked it up to an amp, but I'm not going to do that because I don't want to damage my amp. Then, on top of everything, the item is not returnable because it's considered "hazardous material"... because it has a damn magnet. Sheesh. It looks pretty cool... so I guess that's something. There are other positive reviews, so it seems like these things work pretty well IF they work... So just be aware, if you're considering buying one of these, that you're rolling the dice. You might get a kickass subwoofer for a good price, or you might get a damned expensive paperweight. ... show more
