Works flawlessly, really nice design to get around the lack of space for a touch screen in older vehicles. The tilt and up/down positioning really helps you get the most out of the screen. It has options to hook up fwd and rear facing cameras with auto reverse. And mp3/mp4 playback with the parking brake signal applied. Carplay/Android auto is both wired and wireless and works perfectly once booted although it does seem to take a minute to open after initial start up. Audio is also quieter through either application but I've noticed that is the case with every stereo equipped with those applications. The screen is well visible and sensitive to touch but the operating system does seem to lag intermittently. Overall I'm very pleased with the fit and function for price as I didnt have to modify any of the existing dash features as others have done before to fit touchscreens in these particular jeeps. If I needed to recreate this same fitment I wouldn't bother with any other stereo but this one. (I tried and returned 2 others before pulling the trigger for this) ... show more

I removed the original radio and wanted to get something that will work with my phone. At first, I thought I could install it myself but after getting it and all required parts, I decided to get a local professional. I also read on the first page of the user guide a suggestion to hire a professional. I’m glad, I followed the advice. The installer did a terrific job. I tested FM radio, Bluetooth connection and a wired USB connections. They all worked. While 7 inch monitor is bigger than the original 1-din radio, in its lowest position (the monitor position is adjustable) it leaves both the heating/AC controls and the upper console buttons usable. Originally purchased a less expensive one and was so disappointed in the junk quality. Then returned and bought this one and am soooo much happier. It works great and the screen is big and beautiful. I love that it’s easily removed from the deck if you’re worried about someone seeing it and trying to steal it. My only gripe is that it won’t connect to CarPlay via Bluetooth.     • Outstanding for price point

This is an outstanding head unit for the price point. The form factor, features, and build quality are very good. It’s also a ‘real’ head unit in the sense that it’s not just an android tablet stuck to the dash where you have to navigate an android home screen and apps to do things. The floating display is a lot better than I expected for the price and looks good. It is capacitive touch as well. The real volume knob is a welcome upgrade from the typical units with buttons for volume. The buttons next to the knob however can get inadvertently tapped sometimes if you drag your fingers across them by choking up too much on the knob. That’s easily avoided once you see how it can happen. The single din form factor was what led me to this unit in the first place since I’m limited to single din with a very tight bezel on my 1996 f-350. The floating display clears the bezel perfectly and can be angled perfectly to the driver. The only thing to consider is that due to the weight and floating display this single din will have to be supported in the rear. The factory rear support for mine was gone so I had to make one for my truck. I wouldn’t personally rely on just the sleeve for mounting. I wouldn’t hesitate to install one of these even in a double din slot after using it though. The input and output options are very full featured. I liked that in addition to front and rear camera inputs there are also 500ma power outputs to connect for the cameras so you don’t have to scavenge power from somewhere else. Many of the inputs are pigtailed as well so you have more flexibility on placement and the ability to seal plugs like RCAs together with tape or heat shrink so they don’t come loose. I’m not that picky on audio but everything sounds fine to me. There are also a lot of good UI/config options such as the ability to disable the license agreement from popping up every time after the first view, etc. The only real issue I’ve run into is that sometimes upon restarting the vehicle after having listened to BT audio or CarPlay it starts up with the volume muted or at 0. Easy to deal with once you realize what’s going on. I don’t see any firmware updates so I’m not sure if Boss provides any. ... show more

    • Stopped working after three months

Worked great for three months (i was happy with it) and then stopped working out of nowhere (wouldnt power on). Screen just stays black and there is no indication that it is receiving power. I checked the fuse, replaced the fuse, checked all my wires were receiving the proper voltage, and then tested the headunit from another power source. Still would not work. I have read that these boss radios will just randomy die, so be warned ... show more
