First of all, this product deserves 5 stars just because they actually told the truth about the design. There is no plastic which comes in contact with water; if the fact that the lid might hold condensation is an issue, it can be just as easily not used. I have an open coil electric stove, which means that I need to use the trivet, and it was not an issue at all. It did not even take that much longer to heat up on medium, as the directions specify, than my old stainless steel pot did on high. The glass is not thin and the pot seems sturdy. The handle became a little warm, but the handle on my old tea pot did as well. I am using this primarily for pour over coffee and found the design to be compatible with the carafe. I do not like whistling tea kettles at all, so did not use the top, but I assume that it whistles just fine. If you are concerned about the use of plastic or silicone in a supposedly glass tea kettle or coffee pot, this is the one for you. It is also much less expensive than the top of the line stainless steel, some of which don't have good reviews.....and the biggest shock is the reasonable price. I am going to order another one just to keep on hand in case this one ever does break or need replacing. ... show more

Love this glass whistling teapot! It’s the perfect size. Heats up quickly and very easy to clean. This is a high restaurant quality teapot at a great price. I highly recommend purchasing this teapot.

    • Not exactly like my previous purchases
This is the 3 time I purchased this exact kettle. I fell asleep twice with it on the stove melting the plastic top. I am so happy none of them actually broke. This last one feels different, I can't fit my hand inside like the last 2 and the top is a bit harder to put on. The glass seems thiner to me so now I am worried about it breaking while using it. I kept the first one I ruined, the glass feels thicker, the whistle was louder, the opening is bigger and the hole on the handle doesn't scratch my hand like the new one. I f the quality went down, I will start researching for a better kettle. ... show more

    • Where has this been all my life?
In all my years, I have always purchased a stainless kettle to heat water for tea, etc. FINALLY, after all these years -- it hit me -- I realized I was tired of filling stainless kettles with inconvenient lids, frequently over filling it b/c I couldn't see how much water I was putting in unless I measured it, and not being able to see where it's at in the boiling process (not all teas require rapidly boiling water). I knew there had to be a better option -- and there is -- THIS glass kettle right here!! You came to the right place if you're looking for a beautiful whistling kettle where you can fill it easily, know exactly how much water you're adding, and know when it's about to boil. I also love how it looks on my stove when not in use. Seriously, I have had many kettles, and can't believe I never bothered to make my life easier by buying a better one -- THIS ONE.     • Better than expected
I was skeptical about ordering this after all the negative reviews, however I am very happy I went for it anyways. I am now 6 months in and I love my kettle. It is the perfect size for me and just seeing the water boil is quite cool. It is try that the kettle does not whistle loud, but the water boils quite quickly if you don't fill it all the way up to the brim. The handle can get hot, however if you put the recommended minimum water level or more AND put the flame (I use gas) on lower setting the handle will be fine to the touch and you'll have boiling water in 7 minutes or less. I you put your stove on the highest setting thinking the water will boil quickly you will get hot to the touch handle. Out of the box I washed the kettle and did a test run boil to make sure all was good and to sanitize and remove any residue that may have been leftover from manufacturing and I've had no issues. Great product and I'll definitely buy it again ... show more

    • The German Borosilicate Glass Makes The Difference
I've had a few of this type of tea kettle over the years that were broken by my fault. So, when I had to replace it again, I noticed the German Borosilicate Glass option that I thought would be the right choice. Was I ever right! It is so well manufactured, the handle is exceptionally made, and the glass is way thicker/sturdier of any kettle I've ever had. Stop looking and buy this one. ... show more
