I like the small size, no frills, good rugged construction, it just works. It advertised like 60 decibels, but it's actually pretty loud, not good for a place where people are talking. It says it will shred 8 pages, it's really like 3, it's not very strong or fast. However, it works fine, and its great for low volume occasional shredded. ... show more

    • This should be listed as an 8 sheet shredder, But! Quite good and compact.
Size: 10-Sheet Cross Cut
Noise is as expected, loud. Safety features are as expected, a tab with settings and no tab lock. Also has an internal safety tab making it unusable outside the bin. At $43 it’s a fair price. The 4 gal size is actually pretty nice. A target or walmart bag can fit over the top of the bin, making it easy to just flip over and empty into the bag without overflow. Maybe my favorite feature. The top is easy to remove and put aside. It has two hand openings on either side, which I like much better than the front and back. And it’s almost as good as a handle on top. It has 4 settings which is a bonus. Full forward, auto, and full reverse. Full forward is not available on all shredders and sometimes that can lead to a bad jamming issue. Resulting from the auto lever being wedged up by half shredded material and leaving you with no way to get it to work again. Besides taking a thin board and jamming down the slot until finally it clicks the auto lever back on. Full forward is a near must if you’re looking at shredders in general. But this little Bonsen has got all the needed settings and it chewed through everything I threw at it. But there were a couple thick bills that jammed it up. Still it was easy enough to reverse, pull them back out and re-shred after opening them. Frankly the jamming issue was more a fault of the small slot opening of the shredder, as its little motor wants to eat through anything. So be careful. I actually really liked the way this looks overall. The silver top and black bin is a simple clean design and looks better imo than most other shredders out there. And Its form factor being a rectangle with nice rounded corners is really efficient. And can be placed anywhere if saving space is a need. As is not the case with many other shredders. If you’re looking for a solid 8 page shredder, this is a really good bang for your buck at around $43. ... show more

I've had several Amazon Basic shredders that were OK, their main feature was they were cheap. However, when they die there's no manufacturer support as it's n unknown. When my old shredders mysteriously quit working after little use there's no mechanism to contact a manufacturer for warranty issues. This on the other hand, lists several methods.of contact and the documentation actually encourages contact for any questions. The mechanism is stouter than any shredder I've owned and says you can even shred with staples in the paper. Does what it's supposed to and I anticipate longer life. Our previous Basis Amazon Shredder died. It worked valiently for many years. Our previous shredder had wheels, but that isn't important for where we have it. This one is slightly smaller. We went out looking for a new one, on Amazon, and found this beauty. It is quieter and all the functions work which is all we were looking for. My husband really likes the auto feature.
