I will admit that this is my first shredder, so I consulted with my sister, who shreds a ton, to know if the unit's performance was excellent, average, or subpar. I started with plain paper. The listing says the shredder can do twelve sheets at a time, and I believe it. I didn't do twelve, but I did seven and eight often with no bogging or clogging. I next fed it cardstock, and once again, it didn't flinch. Next on the menu was a couple old credit cards; not a problem. I shredded three baskets full (the unit's basket - I had to empty it three times) of material without the unit overheating or overloading a single time. Even my sister was impressed. Apparently, other shredders are a bit messy when it comes to dumping the basket. I literally dropped a single shred of paper each time, which was probably my fault - a single shred! While emptying the basket into a trash bag, I bounced it up and down and watched all the paper effortlessly exit the basket. I am quite happy with its performance. Alas, the only fault my sister and I could observe is the lack of a telescoping handle. The unit is on small (lockable) casters, and it is not very tall. To move it requires bending over and scooting it. It can be carried since it is not very heavy, but a handle really should be integrated. I would not let the lack of a handle stop me from recommending this shredder. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I got this shredder to replace one I've had for over 20 years that never was that great. Wow, this one is a nice upgrade. When I first opened it, I was surprised how big it was...at first I thought too big, but now I'm used to it and it seems just right. The wheels come unattached, but pop right into holes in the bottom of the bin. They roll very smoothly even on carpet. Two of the casters have levers to lock them in place so they don't roll which is nice, though not sure necessary unless you plan to put this on an incline ha ha. Once assembled (mainly just installing the wheels and putting the shredder portion on top of the bin) it's very easy to operate. You can leave it on all the time with AUTO or turn it on and off as you need to use it. There is a light that lets you know if you're shredding has gone wild such that the device is overheating, then you need to wait till it cools down. It shreds fairly quietly and smoothly. When the time comes, you can empty the shredder by pulling out the bin -- there's a window to let you see in the bin to know how full it is getting. The bin pulls out easily and is easily re-installed. You don't need to remove the shredder on top to do this. It is larger than my old shredder but still fits neatly under my desk. So far I'm really happy with this and grateful I finally upgraded. ... show more

    • Competent Paper Shredder
The Bonsaii 12-sheet paper shredder works as well as, or even a little better than I was expecting. The assembly was easy, and the controls are simple and easy to understand. The shredder is rated for up to 12 sheets, but I didn’t want to push things and risk damaging the unit, so I tested it with bundles of five to seven sheets. The shredder had no problem with these quantities and quickly converted the pages to tiny bite-sized rectangular bits of paper whose reassembly would give CIA operatives nervous breakdowns. The shredder is about average as far as the sound level is concerned, which is perfectly acceptable. Frankly, I like to hear my shredders work as it gives me confidence that they are effectively doing their jobs. The Bonsaii unit is very effective and competent, and the tiny confetti it produces fills me with confidence that my personal information will not fall into the wrong hands. Of course, the real test will be longevity, and I will update this review should there be disappointing developments in that regard.     • Exactly what everyone needs for shredding documents
In this age of ID theft it is always a must that you properly shred all those credit card and misc junk mail. This 12 sheet paper shredder is definitely heavy duty as the shredding unit itself is built like a tank and has some weight! The base itself has a awesome removable 5.5gal bin with a see through window so you know when it's full. It also comes with optional 360 lockable swivel caster wheels if you want to keep the shredder mobile like in a office setting. The unit is rated at P4 security level with 15 minutes of continuous stredding before the overheating warning comes on. So if you are large batch shredding you'll need to work through this limitation. But in general home use 15min is more than enough time for daily mail shredding. It does have the capability to shred through paper clips, staples, credit cards, CDs without any issues. The unit itself hasn't jammed and does feature a reverse mode it you do experience a jam. The auto start stop is also great if you just want to leave the unit on. Overall an excellent paper shredder for your home office or even actual office use. ... show more

This was a nice upgrade from my current shredder, which was an Amazon Basics barebones shredder that I purchased a while back. Since I have a home office, I needed something that serves both for personal and small business needs. This shredder fits the bill perfectly -- I do not have to empty out the bin often as it holds quite a lot, and it can handle many more pages than the Amazon Basics model. Note that this is a cross-cut shredder, which does an adequate job of shredding and obfuscating paper materials. This would have been perfect if it provided micro-cut operation.
