  • Slight upgrade but similar in quality to the older S450-XT. Overall, really happy with it.
Style: C300-XT MS Pattern: Headset
I have an older S450-XT model and this is similar in quality. I'm happy with it, and it works as I'd expect but there are some things to consider with it. Compared to my older Bluetooth, the ear cushion on this is slightly larger. There are three different band options in the box too, and although they're still made small, they are slightly larger than previous models and I made it work. I have kind of larger ears that the cartilage doesn't conform back like it should. This isn't on the headset or anything, but there are plenty of people with larger ears. Still, I was able to get a good fit after some fidgeting around with the bands. The ear cushions on these have the older style foam type that remind me of the 80s and 90s, and they have a newer pleather style one. I don't care much for the foam because I feel like I can hear it crackling whenever I move my head or adjust the headset. Some of the specs on these - the noise cancellation, I just don't see it. I can still hear anything and everything through my headset and ears, but with the microphone it does blend out most of the background chatter and chaos. It would be fair to say that the microphone cancels out background chatter versus just calling these noise cancelling. I had read others complain about this, and didn't think it'd be an issue for me. There isn't a huge amount of noise in my work area, but I did want to mention that it really just cuts out chatter in your space. My cats meowing will no longer be heard on conference calls. This is a full set package. It came with a charger, a USB cable, and all the info to get it set up. It can be trickier if you've never used one before but the guide is simple enough. Mine included 5 different ear gels with one already set up, and then 5 different ear hooks. I usually end up wearing mine over the head just because of my ears. The music streaming works great on this. I tend to have Pandora going. I find the sound quality to be just fine and it lets me have tunes that aren't distracting to anyone else. The 10 hour talk time, I haven't timed it, but I can get 2-3 days worth of talk out of mine between charges. It really depends on heavy usage. The 300 foot range may be a stretch. I took mine out on the farm and walked about and acre out and things started getting quite spotty. An acre runs 208 or so feet, so 300 would be quite a stretch unless there's some conditions I didn't consider. It was a clear day and I left the phone on the porch while pacing it out. I don't use Microsoft Teams, but this is a solid Bluetooth and would be great if you did. Blueparrott is a little on the higher end for cost, but they stand by their headsets and make a quality product. I'm pretty impressed with the newer C-300. The convertible works well. I just wish they'd do something about the ear cushions. They're still smaller and not the most comfortable if you like to wear it over the head. ... show more

  • Not sure why ...
Style: C300-XT MS Pattern: Headset
When reading some of the reviews, this headset certainly created high expectations. As you might have guessed already from my rating, that’s not what experience confirmed and I am really torn on this headset. Sure, the C300-XT is kinda the entry-level device in that series, but I am still a bit disappointed. The problems start with the assembly. It’s not particularly difficult, but the manual makes no attempt to really help understanding the options. There are 5 different configuration included and all the manual has is a tiny graphic with some vague idea how that could go. For the functionality, the manual doesn’t to a much better job to explain how to configure or at least what to expect from the blue parrot button for instance. This particular model is designed for general use, but heavily advertised for Microsoft Teams. Within that program, the button allows for the headset to function as a direct talk. The problem is, for me Microsoft Teams is nothing more than an annoying pop up that started to show up after a Win 10 update about a year ago, or maybe less. Neither privately nor at work am I currently using it. I started assembly by assuming I want the ear clip, and after a few minutes of wearing that configuration realized that this is neither comfortable nor good audio quality. Sure, single ear pieces don’t really sound great, but this was ear piercing when playing the sound test in WebEx. The microphone test, however, did produce an impressive voice quality. So I switched to the neck band and most configurations don’t really support large heads. The bands don’t allow for the silicone ear pieces and it takes a bit of solving puzzles how this is being assembled. The silicone tip comes off and the black (rubber) spacer goes on, then the band’s loop slides onto the spacer and is held in place by snapping the foam piece on. In either case, it ends up being an on-ear design. Sound quality improves slightly, but don’t expect to be blown away. I did mention that the microphone works fairly good. The noise reduction, however, is not necessarily a feature I agree with some glowing reviews. For one, the algorithm couldn’t possibly differentiate between your voice and someone talking in the background. Some reviews claimed miracles of such background to be completely eliminated. I used my kids for the test, and the recording had their “contributions” just as clearly as my voice. Sure, not as loud, but still quite noticeable. I suspect it’s meant to focus on noise found in airplanes, busses, etc.., but I do currently not have a way to test that. Nor do I have a need for those cases. A big surprise finally convinced me that this is not going to be my headset for normal use. Although the relatively high white noise level in the headphone is almost workable, the biggest surprise is that in a video conference the other side got muted every time there was a system notification (i.e., new mail). That is not the case when using speakers, and seemingly is unique to this headset. I get a lot of mails and this behavior became unacceptable to me. So I am sorry if this is a relatively negative review, but in my tests it simply didn’t live up to my expectations. The saving feature is the good voice reproduction of the microphone even without a clear benefit of the noise reduction. The sound quality of the headphone, the comfort and mentioned sound issues are too big of an issue for me. (I do prefer a discrete microphone and speakers, which can be vastly superior even if not as portable.) ... show more
