  • Nice features for price
Put in a vintage vehicle face sticks out more than I like but great sound even on ancient speakers. No treble or base adjustment just different sound selections: rock, pop, and maybe one other. Rock sounds best but still a little much treble. Illumination blue non adjustable, over all happy. Bluetooth to my iPhone in seconds. Haven’t used on a phone call as no one calls me except tela- callers and don’t like to drive while talking in phone. This review is the only one you need. ... show more

  • Worth the $50 Amazon price.
I got this because the Clarion unit I’ve had on my 2005 RAV4 since 2010 finally started behaving weird and only partially functioned. Besides, it never had Bluetooth anyway, which I’ve missed having for at least the last 8 years, and I never liked the itty-bitty text and confusing controls. About the only thing I really liked was the single twist-knob for volume control and the CD player. I got this Blaupunkt because it had a similar twist volume knob and the CD player but with Bluetooth, front-face USB, SDcard slot, plus AUX and AM/FM radio with a lot of presets. Since I already had a Scoche DIN adapter inserted for the Clairion, it was a very easy removal of the old unit, and after a careful comparison of wiring charts, and easy wiring of rat Blaupunkt harness, and installation of the new unit into the Scoche mounting. After reconnecting the battery, the new unit performs flawlessly. My only complaint, hence the 4 stars instead 5, is the fact this unit does not include any illumination wiring specifically for the display brightening/dimming. It only has one setting, which is great after sunset, but practically invisible during the day. Fortunately I don’t care much, which is why I went ahead and bought this unit having read all the reviews, many of whom complained about this aspect. So, if you buy it, be aware that all the complaints about a dim daytime display are true, and as far as I can they’ll, there is nothing you can do about it. Otherwise this is a great unit and a bargain for the $ (assuming it lasts — I just finished installing it and test-drove for the first time it today… so time will tell…) ... show more

  • Should be named the Juno Alaska
Instead of the Beverly Hills where it is always sunny! Radio works great. A breeze to install. Functions perfect. Looks great in the car. The display is so dim it is impossible to see during the day. You have to put your hand over the display and lean in close to see anything. The only people that should buy this radio are people who live in Alaska where it is dark for 6 months a year. Or night owls that only drive overnight. I tried everything to see if there is a option to brighten the display. You can't get any support from the company. There is no options to contact anyone. ... show more

  • Things to know before you buy
The stereo is 120 watts. For those of you with just front speakers in your car like me, you can bridge the front and rear left together, then bridge the front and rear right together so you can enjoy the full wattage between 2 speakers. The wiring from the stereo looks like aluminum, but it definitely not copper. They are 18 gauge wires which is smaller than the stock 16 gauge. It's not a bright display. There's no real graphic equalizer, but you do have adjustable bass, treble and loud. There are some presets but they sound awful. The remote is nearly useless, because you have to point it directly at the radio and the remote needs to be 3 to 6 inches away for it to respond. There is actual lag time between station selecting. It say's mico SD, but it's not. It only takes the full size SD card. Bluetooth works great, SD card and USB work very well. It sounds very good for the price. IMPORTANT!!! it has a fat/thick face-plate. Keep that in mind if you have limited space between your shifter knob and your radio already. I drive a very small 2 door convertible roadster and I'm about a 1/4 inch or less away putting my fist through the radio when I use gears 1, 3 and 5. UPDATE: I returned it for full refund. I encountered an issue with the clock and noise coming through the radio when the car was running. ... show more

  • Deal of the Decade!
CD players for cars are becoming scarce these days. One That plays all formats except for Blu-ray, also has MP3-USB, phone and a SD slot as well she would like a pipe dream, and getting it from a well known name brand for $50 with removable faceplate? Had to be a catch. Indeed I had to go get screws for the sides to mount it with. $3.99 and several spares. It surprised me to find the ground wire wasn't needed, and playing DVDs was simple as connecting to the yellow RCA out. For whatever reason for a few tries it did not eject the CD, But once the installation was complete it worked swiftly and smoothly every time. Connecting via Bluetooth the cell phone Was also quite simple and work and paired mediately without any hassles. Phone quality I can't come in to him just yet because it's got the old factory speakers from 22 years ago, but since no car sounds really good owing to the road and shape of a vehicle, That seems like a least of my concerns. I couldn't be more pleased or recommend it more highly! ... show more
