I bought this specifically to pick up cat litter from my bathroom floor. I've had to put a box in there due to an elderly cat's needs, but I absolutely hate getting out of the shower and having litter stick to my feet, so gross! I know that not every handheld vacuum is adept at picking up litter. I've had several that would suck it up and then drop some back out. This one doesn't do that, it picks up the litter and holds it. It's also very simple to empty. Battery power is decent, I run this for about a minute every day and end up needing to charge it every 2-3 weeks. As others have mentioned, you do need to hold the button down for it to run, which is not a problem for me but could be for some. I use this in my kitchen every day! It's very helpful when it comes to cleaning up crumbs and other small messes that aren't liquid. Cleaning is very easy and takes no time at all. I have mine mounted in my pantry for charging and easy access. Charging is fast, and you know when it's fully charged when the red light goes out on the wall charger. Positives (read on for negatives): This dustbuster is very good at getting rid of cat hair and dust. I use it to vacuum our mattress, loveseat, cloth shoerack and upholstered dining chairs that our cat loves to lay on. It is very powerful for such a small machine. It's also lightweight, portable, and easy to use on any surface. The red charging light on the plug will turn on when it's charging and turn off when it's fully charged. The battery life isn't long but lasts long enough to get the job done if done frequently enough. Negatives: The battery life is incredibly short in relation to how long it takes to charge. It takes several hours plugged into a wall outlet to charge, and does not last even close to nearly as long when using it after fully charging it. It comes with a special charger and cannot be charged with a USB-C charger. It is also moderately noisy and my cat is scared of it. Overall, I would recommend this product. ... show more

I needed a handheld vacuum with a lithium ion battery and a wall-mount charger so that it would charge when it was put back on its hook. Most of the vacs I looked at had to have the charge wire manually inserted before hanging it up. Not for me. This vac is what I needed. I love this little vac! I have an Australian Shepherd and he is shedding like crazy. I hate taking out the big vacuum unless absolutely necessary…so now problem solved. I can use this little vac every morning before work and stay ahead of the fur factory. It has a surprisingly strong suctioning ability and I found it held a pretty long charge. Definitely empty debris as you go along, not letting it get stuffed to full, and it keeps working fine. The little brush included is great for furniture and it has a built in small extension.     • It works but it is very poorly designed. I don't really like it. I'm going to look for a better one.

In terms of suction power and cleaning, this handheld vacuum is OK but not great. 1) I don't like that you have to keep the power button pressed down the entire time you're using it. If you lift your thumb off the button, the vac turns off. 2 The wall charger is very awkward. It's difficult to align the vac back into the charger and it hangs upside down. Instead of grabbing the vac by the handle, I find I have to grab the nozzle. Unless you mount the wall charger high above your shoulder, the ergonomics of grabbing and replacing the vac in the charger is quite awkward and badly designed. 3) The charger doesn't reliably connect to the vac. You have to be sure it's well seated if you expect it well enough to charge because the design of the charger seems to rely on gravity to keep the vacuum pressed firmly to them. Again, poor design. 4) There is no LED indicator on the vac or the charging base so you have no positive indication that you've seated the the vac properly to charge. Instead it's on the wall wart you plug into the outlet which in many cases is not visible I expect more from Black and Decker. I'd rather spend a few dollars more for a unit more thoughtfully designed. It seems they shaved every penny off the cost of this unit to make it incredibly cheap so if these negatives don't bother you and you just want a cheap handheld vacuum - then it's probably fine. ... show more

This product gets rid of pet hair pretty effectively along with the many dust bunnies that accumulate in my house. It's an absolute must with hardwood floors. Glad I bought this one because it's cheap and I don't see myself having a use for the heavier duty ones.
