Description

ASI Aquarium Silicone Sealant has been specifically formulated for the fabrication of fresh and salt-water aquariums. This high modulus component RTV Silicone Sealant forms strong cohesive bonds to glass without the need of primers. The bonds are unaffected by continuous immersion in water and, when fully cured, is non-toxic to fish. ASI Aquarium Silicone Sealant is a non- slump sealant and can be applied to vertical surfaces without flowing or sagging. High Modulus Excellent tensile strength Excellent primerless adhesion to glass Bond unaffected by continuous immersion in water Excellent clarity Because ASIAquarium Silicone Sealant is a 100% silicone sealant, it has excellent resistance to weathering including ozone, ultra-violet radiation and airborne chemicals. ASI Aquarium Silicone Sealant can be applied to surface temperatures from -18°C to +50°C (0°F to +120°F) and after curing, withstands constant operating temperatures from -57°C to +233°C (-70° F to 450°F). MATERIAL PREPARATION For successful bonding, glass must be clean of all dust, dirt and oil. The presence of these contaminants may impede the development of the bond. Therefore, it is essential that the glass be cleaned with suitable and compatible cleansers such as nonoily solvents, diluted solutions of acetic acid or extremely hot water. The cleaned glass should be wiped dry immediately with a clean, lint free cloth or blown dry with hot oil free air. DO NOT clean glass with soap and water solutions. Soap residue can act as a release agent and result in adhesion failure. Clean glass should be handled with clean, lint free gloves or equivalent only. Oils from hands and fingers can act a r

  • IT SMELLS!
Color: Black
I got this to reseal a 20g high that had a leak on the bottom ( I obviously resealed the whole tank) as you probably read in other reviews this think SMELLS really strong it’s not a bad smell is just like vinegar but it can bother so I highly suggest using it in a very ventilated area or outside. The instructions said that it cures in 24 hours and the drying time depends on the thickness of your beads I did mine kinda thick so I left it drying for 7 days just to be sure and so far it’s holding pretty good and my girly is happy in her home until I can get her a bigger tank ❤️ ... show more

  • Smells overpowering until cured
Color: Black
Have no issues with the performance of this product does exactly what it states. Just a word of advice use in a well ventilated area with good airflow, the smell of this is extremely powerful and pungent until it cures, so stinks like hell for upto 24hrs

  • Excellent sealant
Color: Black
My 300 gallon aquarium flooded my house because of a blown out silicone joint. I was nervous attempting this myself. But this product works extremely well. Three months later everything is still holding water and looking good.

  • Very good stuff, but make sure you learn about curing silicone, don't treat it like glue.
Color: Black
Worked great - I built a custom aquarium equipment baffle/in tank sump with this stuff. It went on smoothly, dried quickly, and adhesion was awesome. Silicone doesn't properly bind to dry silicone, but this stuff still bonded will enough over the tank beads to seal it, though there's very little strain on those bonds, and it's reinforced all around by good quality bonds between glass and plastic. Important notes on how silicone cures ("drys") - 1) beads thicker than 1/8" will effectively NEVER cure, so less is more when you need strong bonds, like in aquariums. 2) because curing is not drying, low humidity is not helpful, in fact, it's horribly counterproductive to curing. A cure that will take many days at 15% relative humidity will take a couple days at 30-35% and a day at 50-60%. A humidifier in the room if it's dry where you live will dramatically improve the cure time. 3) heat isn't nearly so important as humidity, so don't waste your time going at it with a hair dryer or heat gun, the top skin will form faster, but that's mostly because of the air flow. A gentile fan would be much better. It usually won't cure as fast under really cold conditions, but just aim for room temperature. ... show more

  • Worked great
Color: Black
Super easy to use. Worked to reseal my 15 gallon tank and had plenty left. Easy to clean and wipe off of glass. I used a few pieces of painters tape along side of it to get that nice crisp line. Any excess wiped right off. Would purchase again.

  • Great silicone for PVC enclosure
Color: Black
Didn’t use for an aquarium but used for a PVC enclosure for a snake. In case of water bowl spills and when rehydrating substrate, this works to avoid flooding outside the enclosure.

  • Worked great
Color: Black
Worked great. The smell wasn’t too bad. Wasn’t particularly strong and just smelled of vinegar. Came out of the tube very easily. Used it to seal a new PVC reptile enclosure. Cured in about 3 days.

  • Works as intended
Color: Black
Before you throw away the shipping box, make sure to check for the nozzle. It comes loose in it's own little bag. I almost missed it as I had several other items in the box. The nozzle already has a hole in it to start, which I imagine would work nicely for traditional caulking means. The tube of silicone itself was easily opened above the threads with a razor blade. I feel it is important to note, I used this in the construction of a background for a reptile enclosure. It was applied over cured spray insulating foam and then coated with eco earth. If this is your intended purpose, make sure you shave off the skin of the foam, it'll give better adhesion. I used about a tube of it in a 20 gallon long. If you are able to, I would definitely use this outside and then keep your project outside as well to air out. It really does have a strong vinegar smell. Thankfully, I only really got a nose full if I put my head inside the tank when applying. Definitely wear gloves when using. Was easy to get off my skin if I did get any on it, but makes clean up even more of a breeze with gloves. When I was done with my first application I wrapped the end in aluminum foil and put a sandwich bag around that. When I came back the next day, it was still ready to go and didn't need to clear out the nozzle. I personally didn't experience any problem with the silicone leaking out the backside of the tube-like I've seen in other reviews. ... show more
