  • BioBidet Aura A7 review. Best buy in $300 price range!
Can't say enough good things about this product so far. Bought this bidet for my wife as she was having knee replacement surgery. I knew from my own experience she would have problems after she came home from the hospital. The BioBidet Aura A7 works exactly as described, was easy to install, and most important; it is easy to use. Neither my wife nor I can see the controls while seated, but the main control buttons have a tactile dimple in them that allows you to navigate the main controls by touch without looking at them, this is an excellent feature that I was unaware of until after installation, but really does help you to work the bidet without having to look at the controls. The Seat sensor cutoff is a very nice feature also as it will shut off the water if you stand up, or hit a control button while not seated, and also help prevent your 3 year old grandson from "getting a drink from the fountain" unless of course he just happens to put his hand over the sensor... Having been in use for 3 weeks now in a family of 3, and as the only toilet in the home it gets a lot of use, and so far the product seems robust enough to hold up to any reasonable use. I weigh 330 lbs and my wife is also a large woman, and my son is in excess of 220 lbs, and truly I did not believe that a toilet seat bidet could stand up to that for long, but it seems sturdy enough to last for at least a few years for us, and looks as if it would last at least 10 + years of "normal use". If it will make it at least a year I would not hesitate to purchase another Aura A7 as a replacement. At $300 a year I would consider it cheap just for the convenience alone. My wife considers the bidet to be a true blessing, as in addition to knee surgery she has other mobility issues and otherwise would have difficulty with self care toileting. Bottom line (pun intended...;) The Bio-Bidet A7 works very well. Toilet paper is only needed for removing a bit of water afterwards, and leaves you feeling truly clean and refreshed. As I have read in another bidet review; if you had fecal matter anywhere else on your body you would not be satisfied to merely wipe it off with a bit of paper! While not able to view all of the different brands, models, and types in person, nevertheless, I did a lot of online research before purchasing the A7. The BioBidet Aura A7 has about the best set of features and options you will find in this price range. While I don't use the heated seat now since it is spring, in the winter that, and the heated water tank, will be very welcome. The self cleaning stainless steel nozzles and the ability to adjust them with 2 different pre-sets is a big plus. Last but not at all the least is the "Aura" part. The A7 has a bright blue LED night light for the bowl, and a lighted blue strip on the control panel. One of the nicest features of this model, and one of the main reasons I chose this particular model. It is a good nighttime safety feature, and pleasant to look at even during the day! It really makes a good looking toilet look even better. Just FYI there is also an ECO mode, or you can turn the features on or off as you desire. For the money I don't think you can beat the BioBidet A7. Lucky for me I got mine the day before AMAZON started charging state sales tax! (Hardly makes it worth shopping online with them anymore --- hint to Amazon... Charging state tax on your items without being required to by law is a very bad precedent for online shopping.) Update after 7 months of hard use 1 bathroom home) Working like new, fantastic product for the $. If you don't have one, or are looking for one like this, then get this one, buy with confidence. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Works well, energy use can also be managed very well.
First the main washing function works exactly as expected. It was pretty easy to install; had it installed with no leaks on first try in about 10 minutes. I'm not a plumber but have changed the guts of toilets when they leak; this isn't much different than changing the ballcock (as you should replace the feeder pipe/hose when you do that). One negative is that I have a metal braided hose intended to reduce chance of bursting. This comes with a T connection that doesn't have the same diameter thread as the valve, so I can't use my nicer hose (this is a plastic hose). The other negative is the lid is thin. It has warning not to sit on it, and probably for good reason. It easily flexes with little force (much less than average persons weight). I'm used to seat lids strong enough to hold 150-200 lbs. Since it has a powerful heater I estimated its energy usage with a kill-a-watt. Yes, somebody with a calibrated lab would get more accurate results, but this should let people know how hungry it is. Bathroom is 60F which is unusally cold, so my usage might be higher than what others would see with house heat set higher. Each trial was about a day. With water heat, seat heat on low and "eco" button set (green light) and one approx 20 second wash per day is about 0.24 kwh/day. With water heat low, seat heat off, and "eco" not set (red light) and one approx 20 second wash per day: about 0.10 kwh/day. Water heat high, seat heat off, and one approx 20 second wash per day: 0.20 kwh/day. Seat powered off, turned on for about a minute on medium water temp then 20 second wash: 0.03 kwh/day (this does not mean 0.03kwh/use because the meter moves a bit even when its not used. Vampire power). The water gets reasonably warm this fast. To put this in perspective, 0.24kwh is enough to drive most electric cars over a mile (3-5 miles per kwh depending on driving style). Thus, I personally use it in the off except turn it on just as sitting down, its warm enough to be comfortable by the time you are ready (yes i tolerate cold air, but not cold water. Water heat off is too cold in winter1). Only negative is you can't turn it off (press stop button for 3 seconds) while still sitting. The occupied sensor won't let you turn it off, but doesn't automatically turn it on. If manufacturer ever revs firmware, I'd suggest adding those 2 features (auto-on when occupancy sensor activated; auto-off when you get off, or at least allow it to be turned off while still sitting). ... show more

  • Good seat, honest review.
Ok, honestly this is a good unit. I can't fault it in any way except for my own inexperience. Had an issue installing it. Not their fault, but make sure you understand that you need plumber's tape. Here's the good: - warm seat with different heating options - warm water on your rear, very nice! - clean, quiet, nice blue light. - It does a *great* job (subjective) of cleaning... Cons: - The structure of your toilet may mean that the lid won't go all the way up. In my case, I had to use a bungie cord to hold the toilet lid off my back. Not a show stopper, but annoying. - I think the sprayer is pointed to the right, just a bit. I can fix it by adjusting my seating, but it's also a small annoyance. - I wish that blue light was a UV light. That way it'd kill germs instead of just looking nice. Maybe in version 2? (hint) - I wish the toilet seat was more substantial. It fits a normal oval toilet, but the front part is only a 1/2 inch wide from back to front. So I feel a little bit like i'm sitting on the rim of the toilet (about the same width), and not on the seat. - That said, the seat heater does fix much of this initial weirdness. Overall, I'd probably have given this 4 stars, but this is my first bidet. I actually find myself waiting to use it as it's become the most popular 'seat' in the house! I really like it, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to try out the benefit but doesn't want to pay a lot. My next purchase of a bidet (yes, this unit convinced me to replace all the remaining three toilets with a bidet function) will likely be a higher end model. I just don't like the very thin (width) seat and that I had to attach a bungie cord to keep the lid off my back. But hey, I learned something new that I like! That's hard to do at 50! :) ... show more
