Relatively easy to put together. The frame is sturdy, brakes are not the highest quality and definitely will not be for high speed stopping. The bearings are not the highest quality so hopefully this won't be a deterrent once my son starts riding it more. Easy assembly. I purchased two bikes and I assembled both fairly quickly. I have a 3 and 5 year old who both started on balance bikes. My 5 year informed me he didn’t want training wheels and wanted to go straight to pedals. So I ordered one for each kid. My 5 year old had no trouble riding his bike! It took my 3 year old a good 15-20 minutes to figure out the pedals. They’ve both doing so great! I love that the bikes can be assembled 3 different ways. ... show more

We got this thinking it would be an easier bike for our kids to ride than bikes we have tried in the past. But after spending over two hours building we still felt it wasn't right. Things kept moving, tires wouldn't pump up and after purchasing a better tire pump and spending more hours getting it built we had our kids try to ride it and it was more difficult for them to ride than the neighbors $20 bike from Walmart. A quick note about the sizing of the 16" Bike. I bought this for my son who is 41.5" tall and has a 18" inseam. With the seat all the way to the bottom, it is just barely too big. If he had a few more inches on him, it would be perfect. I think by the spring, it will be the right size for him to grow into. We went ahead and also ordered the 14" bike... He can ride that one until it gets too cold. Next spring, his younger brother will probably upgrade to the 14" one and my older son will go up to the 16". ---- Other notes: It was super easy to put together. It comes with all the tools needed, but I found it easier to use my own socket set. It comes with a basic plastic air pump -- I tried it out to see what it was like. It gets the job done, but I preferred using my own foot pump. The pedal system is pretty clever - it is very easy to switch from a kick/balance bike to a full-on pedal bike. The bike seems sturdy and well made. I was so happy with it, I bought two of them! ... show more

Very nice quality and heavy duty balance bike I got this for my grandson so he can learn how to control his balance so when he was ready to ride a no my bike he would be able to balance himself was very easy to assemble lightweight very sturdy and great for all ages

    • Brake is anemic.

I bought this bike because it is versatile, convertible from a pedal-less balance bike to one with pedals that does not have a coaster brake. Coaster brakes are terrible for kids learning to pedal and should be avoided with extreme prejudice. So, this fits that bill and overall it's OK and can be switched back and forth easily. The design is not great though and the lowest seat height is not as low as my older son's 16" bike, which is the Guardian Bikes 16" wheel size. It is likely that the seat is so bulky on this bike, so swapping it out with a better designed seat would probably fix that. On the other hand the brake is weird in a couple of ways, one it's totally inadequate for actually stopping the bike, even when adjusted to maximize braking power. Oddly enough, it's also mounted on the wrong side for a rear brake in the USA, the left side. In the USA the right hand controls the rear brake, but this bike has the brake mounted on the left side. I don't think I'd recommend it, and would probably suggest finding something else. I'd probably go with what I did for my older son again, buy a better bike that's well designed for kids and leave the pedals off so he could use that as a push bike and then later on put the pedals on for him to learn pedaling.
