I waited several weeks before writing a review to make sure my opinion wouldn't change of these curtains. I have bought a few different "Black Out" curtains from stores and off the internet but have never been fully satisfied with the amount of light it blacks out. I work 3rd shift and have to have a really dark room to be able to sleep and I also get some pretty bad migraines which require me to be in a very dark room. I was very cautious when buying these only due to how many times I've been disappointed previously with black out curtains. I have to say these are by far the best curtains I have ever seen yet. It literally blocks out 100% of the light in my bedroom and we get A LOT of sun in the early mornings. I bought hooks and a rod that sits close to the wall so no lights shines out along the sides. The only hint of light is from the top but thats expected. Hang them slightly higher and it solves most of that issue. I'm absolutely in love with these. My boyfriend complains that he now sleeps too late and misses going to the gym early now because of these curtains. haha My cat sleeps with us and the moment the light hits our room she tries to wake us up. As weird as it is she doesn't try to wake us up in the mornings now, which I wasn't expecting at all so that was an extra bonus for me. :p The material isn't and does not feel cheap as I read someone else stated in their review. Its pretty heavy duty unlike my previous drapes. The material is very soft and hangs beautifully. There are 2 different ways to hand the drapes as well. Through the material or through the loops hidden on the back. I went through the material to have it lay closer to the wall. These drapes were delivered VERY quickly, packaged well and when I pulled them out of the package I expected them to have a ton of wrinkles I would have to try and get out. NOPE! There was maybe one or two very small creases but this material doesn't seem to wrinkle. I didnt have to iron or put in the dryer at all. Just hung them and boom, done. I bought the black ones and my boyfriend and I even held bright lights and what not behind the drapes and we couldn't see any hint of light behind them. We love them so much we plan on buying more in different colors and replacing the rest of the curtains in our entire house. Not only to block out the light but because they look amazing and some of our family and friends stated they looked very expensive. It has gotten into winter season here where we live and we've noticed out bedroom seems to stay slightly warmer now with them as well. So they do seem to block the cold or heat from outside. The blackout feature works amazing, and it has totally transformed our sleeping experience. The moss color was exactly what I was looking for to add a pop of deep, rich, calming color. I was fully expecting these to be "cheap" curtains. Not so! The color is really nice in my room and the darkening effect is MASSIVE! I have a south-facing window in my bedroom and it was a struggle to temperature regulate as well as light regulate. With my chronic migraines, I needed a fix. I bought the "beige" or lightest color. The picture shows them to be a bit of a cooler color - more drywall than brown egg - than they actually are. I live in Florida and get a lot of light and these curtains in this color offer a moderate amount of light blockage. Because they are not a true blackout curtain in this color, I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. What I absolutely love about these curtains which is not often available in many other light block curtains is the ability to machine wash and machine dry them. I have a dust mite allergy and I insist that everything in my bedroom is easy to wash and dry by machine. Precisely because of mold allergies, I do not want to line dry my clothes outside in the Florida humidity. The first thing I did when I received these is wash them. They looked better coming out than going in! I have washed them two times in total now and have had them for two months. They still look good. The other thing that I love about these curtains and is unexpected is the feel of them. They are soft and flowing and silky feeling. Other black out curtains I have had are very stiff. These tie back and look great and feel expensive. I cannot attest to any savings in electricity as I already have high R value windows. I like these so much that I order three for the windows in the living room today! Pros: * machine washable * can be dried in dryer * silky feeling, not stiff Meh: * color Cons: * light color does not offer full light coverage Edited to add (2013-07-20): I have had the beige colored curtains for about six months now. They have been washed about four times. They have survived the allergen cycle (gets the water really hot) of my new washing machine without a problem. I wrote the original post when I bought the burgundy colored curtains for my living room. I had to buy three sets of these. They look great after an initial wash and then one more. I am still quite impressed with these curtains. The burgundy color does block out more light than the beige color. ... show more
