I did a fair amount of research before I purchased this. Went and got a 8$ 2x4 and 6$ in some 2" lagbolts. Installed and setup in about 15-20 minutes. I then waylaid on the back with some tie kicks and punches and ended it with me swinging on the thing like Miley Cyrus. Worth the money. Stable. So I recently purchased this bag hanger because I wanted to take up less room in my garage gym. It seems to be made of excellent material and the welds look good. My primary concern is that the back plate is too small, and didn't have enough mounting holes. It says this thing can hold 800 lbs, but I have a 150lb bag on it and it definitely bends slightly. Because the plate is so small, it's tough to mount to a wall. Most people aren't going to have a 8x8 to mount it in to. SO, I had to get a 2x12 and mount THAT on the wall first, right into the studs. Then added another 2x12 piece on top of that, to give more substance for the lugs attaching the hanger to the wall to grab onto. So there's about as much support as I could provide given the dimensions of this hanger. When I strike the bag and it swings, I just fear one day it's going to pull right out of the wood, it's just a matter of time. I do have an uppercut "donut" that attaches to my heavy bag, which I can place on the floor to limit its swinging, and that seems to relieve a lot of the stress on the wall. I wish the backing plate was at least wide enough to go right into studs, but also longer, to provide more support when the bag starts swinging. Perhaps shorter, lighter bags aren't as much a problem, but be wary mounting a large, Thai bag. Plan ahead at how you can safely and securely mount it, knowing that the plate will be too narrow to drill into studs. ... show more

Easy install.... Make sure at least one of your mounting sides drills all through 2×4 for maximum sturdiness. Rated 4 stars because it swivels just a tiny bit - You can *shimmy a piece of steel if it bothers you. I added a spring myself due to a heavier Warer bag ..... Drill it onto a 2''x10''x4ft piece of lumber and slap it on a wall with some 3/8inch lag screws (4inch) and it will hold firmly. This size of base will help with the distribution of weight/force on the wall as it allows you to bolt it onto 3 separate wall studs assuming they are 16 on-center. I have a 75lb aqua bag that I hang on it for boxing and I also have put my 120lb aqua bag on it with no issues. Just ensure to place it on a foundational wall. ... show more

We really needed a good strong swing hinge. But the jib crane swing arms were really expensive! So we ordered this and with a little modification its exactly what we needed and 1/4 of the price. We swapped out the extension bar with a peice of metal racking, so ours is now a 4' long swing instead of the 2' it originally was. And even at double the length it's still solid. Bc the mounting holes in the bracket are so far apart you can't get them all in a stud in the wall. So we mounted a 8" board first to the stud then mounted the swing arm to the stud board.
